Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Lovely drive up to the falls, once there just a quick walk through the trees on a well walked path, not suitable for wheel chair. Lovely spot with ru Ning water and great place for photos. Well worth a visit if your in the area

Protestor Falls are situated within the Western end of Nightcap National Park and is not accessible from the Minyon Falls area that is located at the South/ Eastern area of the park.
It is totally different, if you have visited the later first!
You could easily think you are in Far North Queensland in places like the Daintree, as it is surprisingly very similar. Excellent photo opportunities, both at the falls and along the way.
The falls are located, 15km form the right hand turn off at, The Channon Tavern.
The road is a winding bitumen road for 9km, before travelling the last 6km on a dirt surface will get you to your destination.
Be aware there are many tight bends and several, “one lane only” bridges, so beware of oncoming traffic.
You will experience a great drive, which incorporates lush rainforests along the way, with Tree ferns, Palms, Elkhorn’s, Staghorn’s, Birds nest ferns and many other epiphytes’ along the way.
From the carpark, the falls are reachable by approximately a 500 metre walk, part of which is a timber boardwalk in the beginning.
There are also drop toilets and a picnic area onsite right across from the carpark.

Stopped off here to do some exploring as we had been to Nightcap National Park before but never here. It is a beautiful little area that is just full of interesting things to see and do. To get here you must travel on unsealed gravel roads but it is well worth it. The walk which follows the creek is quite short no more than a couple of kms of mixed terrain - some wooden boardwalk as well as the usual dirt/mud track and some traversing of rocks. There are many pools along the way with small falls until you finally reach the main falls themselves. They are spectacular as they drop from skyward into a natural amphitheatre. We stayed for lunch which has ample covered seats and tables and toilets.

This beautiful spot is now spoiled.. Once its was a quiet amazing place where everyone respected the environment. On a recent trip there it was full of disrespectful pretentious people. Totally ignoring the signage of no swimming.
It says no swimming to help protect a species of frogs native to the area.
This area was saved by REAL hippies back in the 70s from loggers. Now its being destroyed by a generation who dont give a care for the environment, rubbish left everywhere.
So so sad to visit and see what is happening.
IF you want to visit please dont swim here there are plenty of waterholes in the area where its ok, or just stay in byron.

Whenever I visit the Channel markets I visit the falls and put my feet in the creek near by. It's an easy road to drive on for any vehicle.Access and parking is simple and the walk to the falls is relatively easy. There is a boardwalk for some of it which makes it a nice leisurely walk.Beautiful in summer as it's nice and cool

This is simply breathtaking
The 1.4 climb up to the top is not too strenuous however I highly recommend sensible walking shoes and sox
The route has been made accessible with man made timber logs, carefully placed stones and at times hand rails. There are spots which after a rainfall are a little slushy so watch your step
The climb to the top is well worthwhile
Whilst swimming in the pools is not encouraged we did indulge as we had been forewarned and had no sunblock or insecticide which is harmful to the ecology
The swim was spectacular and necessary on a humid day
The drive from The Channon was fine but driver beware after heavy rains as the road is prone to flooding
This is 16 kilometers of careful driving and at times on gravel which can be slow - but well worth the effort !

Place of beauty should not be ignored. Local people stood up for this stand of trees and these falls are a fine monument to their efforts

What a beautiful place to visit it is a must. Only problem is people are swimming here when it is not a swimming pool, came across two couples that decided to swim and have a shower at the pools. They didn't take any notice of the signs that say no swimming or take any care of the fact there are endangered frogs here. I did advise them of this fact and there wasn't any care given. not a one for saying anything but what little care people have of nature.

This is a great place to visit and not too difficult track with majestic scenery. A little bit of a drive but that in itself is also scenic.

It was a bit of a drive to get there and the last part is gravel. We managed to find one of the last parking spots and took a pleasant walk to the falls. It was lovely and cool on the path but very hot at the falls. Signage asks for no swimming to protect a rare frog species. Nice picnic areas back near the car park for lunch.
