Ideally one should go for at least an overnight stay, as the last ferry leaves at 3pm. The island is large enough that some of the hikes will take you a few hours. There are no cars, but you can rent the services of a horse cart, if you don't feel like walking. Beaches are of white sand and the water is crystalline.

Although it takes around 2.5 hours from airport of Belem to Maruda and around 40 minutes boat trip from Maruda to Algodoal, it worth to be there. The sand is super fine and the people are very nice. You can enjoy the beer on the beach!

One of the most beautiful places in the world. Salted water mixed with river water gives the ocean an amazing color. The thin sand looks like sugar and the natural landscape makes you forget the urban world! The princess lake is amazing! The color of the lake seems that is coca cola inside it and the water is warm but so refreshing!

This is a must go attraction. The island is really beautiful and rustic. The seashore is wonderful and the beaches sand are thin and white. Because it is in the north of Brazil, the water is warm on the top and lightly cooler on your legs...

Go to Maruda city, far 3 hours from Belem going north. There in Maruda take the boat and get ready for an experience in an island where no cars and no infrastructure are waiting for you. Check your health first, then if you don´t need a hospital nearby neither a drugstore, then go. And enjoy the lonely beach of the princess and the contact with wildlife of dolphins (called as "botos") and manatees (called as "peixe-boi"). The transport in the island is made using carts with a single horse to pull.

One of the best Island to know in Pará. You have to travel by car or bus and then take a small boat to get there but it's totally worth it! If you enjoy adventure and beaches you must get to know it there.

Algodoal is a beautiful place to visit a worthy journey out of Belém the capital of Pará State North of Brazil.

It is a 3 hours driving trip into good conditions roads until Marudá, where you will park your car (you will have many options of places to do so and it is a additional cost about R$ 10,00 a day).

Take a boat to Algodoal to meet with nature and relax, if you are young and love party choose dates around new year eve, carnaval and holy Friday.

There will be many options of accommodation in the area, the best places are not all listed online as yet, but keep in mind that good service can be rare..be prepared for low standard and enjoy the besuty outside of your hotel room.

Go to Princesa Beach and try a round boat trip through the Furo Velho if you like to see nature and take good pictures.

Two nights would be enough for a visit considering accommodation standards.

I wich that local government invested more to make it better, like receptive trainning and clean the beaches or charge whoever makes it dirty.

Imagine entering a car-free island just 45 min ashore from mainland Brazil. Horsedrawn "taxis". By high tide a small boat rows you to the start of a3.5 km long, white beach. Several small cafes serves you whatever you need. A choice of nice lodges close to the ocean. This is just what you need at vacation.
