This museum is a must if you visit Røros. The information you get is substantial, and as you go down and look at the installations you really understand how hard the miners have been working from the middle of the seventeenth century.

This is a very nice museum that explains with small working miniature models how the copper was extracted from the mountains, and the process of melting it down to real copper. We walked around with audio guides. The whole museum is well thought through and...More

I really enjoyed this museum, the audio guide, the exhibition, the Maquette of the copper mine which explained well how technically it was operated. Also showing the impact on nature of the copper mine operations.

It's a quite nice museum where you can see the history of the mining in Røros. You will also get an audio player with information in many languages so you can walk around and recieve information in your own pace.

The highlight is the impressive models of the old mine and smelting house. There is a free audio guide that explains the process quite well. There is not much else, though. It would have been nice with more artifacts exhibited. Definitely worth visiting though.
