it was dusk when we toured this shrine and the fading light did not permit a tour of the vast premises. The two peacocks who take up a night watch on the highest point of the kovil were an interesting sight to behold as they...More

It's of great historical and religious importance so we wanted to see it. Currently under construction so hardly anything spectacular to see. But once it's restored it will be stunning. Hope to be back then.

Huge Kovil structure. Being reconstructed. It is closed between 1.00pm to 3.30pm. Avoid that time for visit.

This place is under construction these days, so one goes there can see how the stone carving is done. Hindu people consider this to be one of the most sacred temples in SL.

This is quite a big Kovil which lot's of local people visit. I think it's one of the biggest in the Mannar area. There is also a famous tank, the Palavi Tank. The Kovil is more then 1400 years old and worth a visit!

it is like most kovils; once you give it a closer look, all the images tell their story and it is fascinating to try to understand how people made these kovils. It took so much time...so many colours are involved...Always worth to visit.

The most popular, auspicious and mostly visited place in Jaffna - be aware that male has to take off their shirts/vests before entering to the temple..

When I went they have stored all the statues in one area and covered it, and the temple was going through major construction.
