located passing Mahavilachchiya towards mannar you cans top over a quick peep on the other side to see. It irrigates the place called the Rice Bowl of Sri Lanka which can tell you the size of the tank for you.

Wanted to see elephants at the far end but was not lucky beautiful vast expanse of fresh water excellent for bird watching pelicans storks migratory ducks corporates unknown birds take a good pair of binoculars

These days this lake is dried up save for a few puddles. However there are flocks of migratory birds feeding here. Very hot hardly any shade and quite far from Mannar

Very nice wet location. Can access easily as this is in Mannar road. Most of the time the tank is not full as most of the time there weather is hot.

Very old Tank (wewa) constructed few centuries ago. Still provide water for irrigation. There is fresh water fish in the tank.

Many beautiful areas around the bank where we could relaxed & enjoy bathing. Lots of places adjoining to the main road.

Stopped for a break at Yodha wewa on our way to Mannar. Its massive. At the time we visited it was after months of rain, the tank was full. There is a kiosk run by the army where you can get refreshments.
