Definitely one of the things you should see when in Tajikistan. The only con to this is that if you don't hike the whole way, which takes a day or to, you'd get to endure a really scary car ride on a steep slope of the mountain. I was really scared we're going to fall down the hill as the... More

On October 9th my wife and I have made a daytrip along Haftkul, the seven lakes, starting in Penjikent. It was a perfect day, with a blue sky. We left our hotel in Penjikent at 8.30. Although we expected a very bad road, the unpaved road - the asphalt ended after about half an hour - was better than we... More

There are shared jeeps in the afternoon from Penjikent, they overcharge tourists. We stayed at the homestay in Padrud village, a nice place, but she had promised us a breakfast at 6 am and it failed to materialize. The trek from here to the rest of the Fann mountains is long and hard, for committed hikers only.Tavarang Pass is not... More

The legend says the seven daughters of a lost man came to look for him and since they couldn't find him, they sat and waited, crying for the loss. The tears became these 7 beautiful jewel lakes. From Penjikent you can ride a car till lake 5 or six, and then trek for an hour or two for lake number... More

a beautiful wilderness, with perfectly still lakes, my advice is drive to the 6th lake and hike to the 7th its enough for for me with some quite steep moments, or stay at Jumaboy homestay here the 4th lake in Nofin, he is a great host and a very friendly guy.

I've been often to the Seven Lakes and visited all the ZTDA home-stays. The area is an extremely beautiful and tranquil place. The lakes are extraordinary although too cold for swimming. You can drive up to Nofin or Padrud Village, overnight at the home-stay and from there start hiking up to the 7th lake on a 4hs walk. For more... More

We travelled to the Seven Lakes at the end of June. Stayed at the guest-house of Jumaboy at the 6th lake. The guest house is nice and very clean. The owner is really amazing - I have not seen such warm and sincere hospitality in any guesthouse in the world. The lakes are magnificent: all of different colour, cold and... More

We just got back to Dushanbe after spending 2.5 days up in the 7 Lakes area. We stayed at a homestay near Lake #4, in the village of Nofin. Jumaboy was our host, and he runs a very nice clean little guest house, with electricity and running water. Home-cooked meals and guided hikes around the area were great. We didn't... More

If you don't have long in Tajikistan, for goodness sake put this at the top of your destination list. The joruney across Tajikistan from Khojand or Dushanbe is dramatic and a treat in itself. The Seven Lakes are idyllic, calming and stunningly beautiful. Each of the lakes is a different colour and named after body parts! In the evening, the... More
