The Fashion on The Ration exhibition, while a little over priced, was really well stocked with photos and memorabilia, as was the whole museum, and it really makes for a good couple of hours visit. Loved the big picture show, it gave a great touch to the experience of looking round and the timeline of war was really interesting.

A promising start with options to try on body armour, gas masks etc. but then the main body of the exhibition was very static with lots of space & not many exhibits ..... expected to see various tanks, armoured vehicles & armaments but little in view. Kids soon got bored .....

The shard was closed due to no funding and also some of the exhibits were out of order .. not the greatest and car parking is extortionate..

Absolutely loved the exhibition. Fascinating historical details, photo & clothing. Just rather disappointed that we had to pay. The posters outside don't mention a charge. By the time we were in (Entrance free!) we'd paid £5 parking. We were told that the museum is trialling entrance fees to special exhibitions. It actually made our visit more expensive than we'd expected.... More

Visited yesterday with 2 young children. Eldest has been learning about war at school so asked to go. He loved it. It's set out well so easy to follow by a time line. Some good displays which held their interest while we read and explained what it was all about. Shop at the entrance/exit was some. Some nice items and... More

My husband and I visited here last Sunday. Having lived in Manchester my whole life I couldn't believe that it took me so long to visit here! Architecturally it's an amazing building! The main exhibition hall is fascinating with the timeline around the space starting from WW1. There is plenty to see with lots of very emotive stories great for... More

Used to be able to travel up the shared for free but now there is a charge. Love theBIG PICTURE SHOW - an hourly activity that transforms the entire gallery space into 360 views / sounds / images of war Access was outstanding with a sign language interpreter projected on the wall. Did a charity zip wire back in 2012... More

This place is amazing, it's packed with so much information of the war and other historical events. As someone who didn't know that much about WW1 I can honestly say I've walked out having learnt something. Considering it's free, this place is great, and not only does it teach young children about Britain's history, it also teaches adults more about... More
