In the end one of our favorite stops (we also slept in the village close by the church), the church has been completely refurbished in 2017 so it is a great place to visit. The local kids play on the ground and parents discuss on...More

Visited it on a day trip through the canyon. The church is in good condition and sits up on a grassy plateau, but the drive up was more interesting than the church IMO.

An incredible place, up on a plateau, where may centuries of Christians history can be found. Don not miss the details on the columns .

This Church is unusual in that it has an out wall and then the walls of the church proper. Pretty inside and the grounds are interesting. Nice photographic opportunities inside and outside of the church.

Perched above the Dzoraget Valley, this church dates from the C5th. Under the central cupola there are interesting carved reliefs and murals.

Road and the landscape is much more attractive like the church itself. Church is still under reconstruction, but accessible to the tourist. Very interesting is mainly color of stone from which the church is built.

Stunning building and better as we had a tour guide with us. Fourth and fifth century history. You need comfortable walking shoes and plenty of energy to get round

Beautiful place! But just a church, combined with a hike, it's perfect! The surrounding nature is one of a kind! Check out Alaverdi Guides for affordable tours by locals! They helped me a lot when I visited.
