Whale and Dolphin Watching Trip

Blue whales in particular (plus smaller numbers of sperm whales) can regularly be seen around six to eight nautical miles east of Trincomalee (about 30 min by boat), Dolphins (mainly Spinner) are also regularly seen. Most sightings occur between March/April and August/September, as whales continue their migrations around the island from the south coast (where they mainly congregate from December to April) – this means that Sri Lanka offers around ten months of continuous whale & dolphin watching annually at different points around the coast.

There is a high chance to see whales or dolphins during our trips (probably 50 % of Whales, 90 % of Dolphins) and we will give our best to find them for you on every single day. However, on some days, even with our best efforts, it is impossible for us to show you dolphins or whales.

Snorkeling Trip to Pigeon Island

In the area of Pigeon Island, 1 km from the diving base, you’ll see colorful corals, Eels, small groups of different fish or colorful drawn Boxfish. Let yourself drift while iridescent Parrot Fish and Damselfish pass slowly. Filigree Lined Sweetlips Fish standing elegantly in the flow, Butterfly Fish and Banner fish dancing before the dark blue curtain of the sea. With some luck you have encounters with turtles, various species of ray or even Blacktip Reef Sharks there.

What a great place to get dive-certified! The instructor Supun was excellent and really made us feel at ease. He was super encouraging, thorough in his explanations, patient as we learned each and every skill, and highly experienced, convincing us throughout that we could do it -- and we're so glad we did! Norbert, the dive master supporting him, was likely amazing and supportive. Norbert always had an eye on us and provided personal attention, and Supun was right next to our 12 year-old daughter under water the whole time, which provided us great comfort. We felt very safe with them both. Another divemaster, Ellie, took terrific care of us during our whole booking process before we arrived and throughout the course itself and provided wonderful customer service, even loaning our daugher her own neoprene swim top, as she was a bit cold, and treating us to donuts after a long day of learning new skills in the pool. We would highly recommend this center for first-time divers given how much personal attention and care the team provides.

They had just opened up after the COVID break (almost 4 months) and they will well prepared and well equipped to handle my requirements. I dove with Ellie and Norbert and they were very friendly and attentive guiding me on small adjustments to my equipment to ensure my dives were very enjoyable ( I was not an experienced diver). I will be back soon.

I was there at the end of September for obtaining my Advance Open Water and it was one of the most amazing experience in my life. All the instructors are really professional and extremely clear in the explanations. I will take my divemaster with them for sure. Really recommended.

I took my Open Water course with them and couldn't be more satisfied. The instructor, Supun, was very attentive and professional all the way. He knew when I needed to repeat an exercise and when it was ok to move on. On any moment I didn't feel pressure to "move on" and finish the classes. On the contrary, I felt more than comfortable to ask whatever I didn't get and to practice whatever needed more practicing. Under any circumstance my safety was jeopardized. The day after getting my certificate I went to Pigeon Island with them and couldn't be more happy. Supun knew exactly how to lead me and where a lot of interested things where. My wife joined for snorkling and was very happy with the guidance of the boat master who not only seems to know the area, but only to enjoy their job.
