Sit back and enjoy the lovely Isle Of Wight coungtryside. Sometimes they even have a fish and chip supper, I love travelling on this train, they have made the carriages really nice. There is also the train museum, which is very interesting.

This is the Island of my youth (70+ years ago!) still puffing away - a bit like me really. A true bit of history for modern families with the train and stations tended by genuine enthusiasts.

A lovely review, thank you for your kind words. Whilst the Railway is not now running, it is only just over a month to our first operating day on Sunday 19 March. A huge amount of work is underway to ensure that both our trains and the site is pristine for our 2017 season. We look forward to welcoming all... More

While the rest of our party were out shopping, I took my elderly mother for a ride on the steam train. We had been on this line a few years previously but it's always worth another visit! Although it was quite busy we didn't have to queue long for our tickets nor have to wait too long for the next... More

We have visited the Isle of Wight steam railway for many many years x we took our children when small and have now taken our young grandson too. It's very remonisant of a bygone time. Even if you are not a great steam train enthusiast it makes a very enjoyable day out . The cafe serves a small selection of... More

We visited over Xmas 17 and rode the New Years day special, the trains and engine sheds are new and we'll presented. Lots to see and learn. The ride is fairly short but lovely. You can park there free or join the old system from the newer electric railway which is an experience in itself. The enthusiasts who run it... More

My wife and I visited here whilst having a New Year Weekend Break. We received a warm welcome from the staff as we arrived just as the first train was due to depart. We are both in our early sixties but they held the train up for us to get on board. Good humour all round as we trotted onto... More

We had a great afternoon on the Santa Special with 6 adults and three children. We had a compartment to ourselves. The line passes through pretty countryside and gives you a perspective you don't get when travelling by road. The noises of the engine and the sight of the steam passing the windows provide a chance to experience what rail... More

What a truely lovely day we had today. 4 adults and 3 children under 5. We booked in advance to benefit from the slight discount, so glad we did, we had a carriage allocated to us, no problem, no queuing, just simply select your train time when booking. There was so much more than the train to keep us all... More

Thank you for your kind words. So pleased you got to enjoy the many attractions we include with our Santa Specials. The allocation of compartments for pre booked visitors has been a great new addition this year and is making things much easier for our wonderful volunteer platform staff. More

My wife and I brought our two small boys over from the USA to ride the Isle of Wight Christmas Steam Train and see Santa. Our boys absolutely love steam trains and this far exceeded our expectations and was like a dream for our two boys. Big thanks to the train driver (Allen) who was so kind in allowing our... More
