Partington cove has some amazing blue water and you can see evidence of when ships used to dock there to transport tan bark from partington canyon. kind of a short steep hike to the voce itself but worth it, come early as it gets busy quick.

This is a nice 1/2 mile steep hike that leads to a pretty little rocky cove. No designated parking area, just park in the little scenic pull-off area and walk around the closed gate.

To get to Partington Cove you have to walk downhill until you get to the big rocks where the rocks meet the ocean. You can sit on the rocks and watch the ocean, the waves, the clouds and the sky. You can hear the splash of the waves on the rocks and watch for whales or dolphins. You can put... More

A lot of people park on Hwy 1 Shoulder to go here because accessible coastline isn't easy to find. I found the cove rocks hard to lie on. Worth seeing a couple times.

To get to this you have to have pre-knowhow of the location and a bit of luck because the parking a just along the road and fills up fast. You hike down to the sea and in spring you can see killer wales if you bring your binoculars, if so you will get stuck for hours, we were amazed. Back... More

While i did not hike ALL the trails, this is the best stop in Big Sur. Though there is no signage to this cover there is a clear path that is nice and wide. Still pretty good hiking as its at a steep incline. but the views are breath taking, the the constant and variable waves crashing provide a cool... More

Big Sur has the best views in all of California. The area is huge & beautiful. We had spent the morning at Point Lobos & made the mandatory Bixby Bridge stop. The family got to vote on one more stop. The tunnel & rocks of Parting Cove sounded enthralling. The short tunnel was neat. However, the view at the bottom... More

Took this walk as a bit of a lark.Loved the vistas, then, on the way back, took a tail to the right.Enterered a tunnel, then walked to the end where there was a bench.Watched whales breaching for forty five minutes, breathtaking!
