We stopped here on a windy day in October, which made for quite a cold visit, but the big surf that day was spectacular to watch as it crashed on the large rocks. It is a fairly expansive beach with lovely sand (some purple) and...More

Drive through the tree filled woods to arrive at a beautiful beach with mountains at the shores & a huge rock with a hole where u can enjoy watching the surf crashing through it. The sand is the softest in CA! This is a magical...More

Truly one of the prettiest spots at Big Sur! The beach us breathtaking! We got so many amazing photos here. The sand is purple in some areas. Highly recommend bringing water socks or sandals that you are ok with getting wet if you climb on...More

If driving up OR down the coast on a road trip, this is a wonderful place to stop. Depending how much time you have, you can make it a quick stretch OR spend the whole week here (camping on the campgrounds). Travel Tip: Catch the...More

Finding Pfeiffer Beach is definitely a challenge, but worth it. I had read previous reviews that said it would be difficult to find and thought I was prepared from all my research. Another review said to look for a narrow road sign when headed south...More

Fun to spend a few hours. The beach wasn’t overly crowded in October. Was $10 to enter. The sand really is purple in area. Lots of kelp has washed ashore.

Amazing beach with purple sand. It's 10 dollars for park entrance and then a quick walk to the beach. It's one of the nicest beaches in California

This is an amazing area: you have the ocean and beach with great views, the rugged coast and, as we were fortunate, a stunning day with the sun up in the air. I am sure that it would look equally amazing even on a very...More

Seriously stunning! Beautiful sunset. A bit difficult to get to/hard to find/hard to park, but very pretty. The waves are pretty rough, though, so I wouldn't recommend swimming.

No....I do not think it is accessible to the beach. I mean if you scaled down the cliff side maybe but it would not be advisable (very dangerous). I have been a few times and it is pretty rough and well preserved. You can... More

It is a 3 hour drive one way. You will not have much time to do anything but drive. A much more doable day trip from San Francisco is to rent a car downtown and go to Napa Valley. It is only 2 hours each way, just be careful... More
