We stopped at Limekiln State Park on our drive along the Coast. Its a pretty state park with a campground and nice beach area. Note: The park now is privately run. We have an annual state park pass which is supposed to be good for...More

Parking lot is small and limited to how many people so we were lucky someone was leaving. Beautiful trail, creek and waterfall. Nice easy hike that's not too difficult.

We went to see whales which was impossible given the rough seas, but the park is very nice and well maintained. We did go down a trail, got the name of a tree we had been wondering about and got to see an incredible bird...More

My niece and her guy got hitched in this magnificent setting, the tranquility, the energy and beauty made this one of the most magical weddings and moments - I will surely never forget.

This hike is only a half mile to the waterfall into the forest and back out. Short hike, easy, accessible, and very calming. Unfortunately, the waterfall was overhyped and not too impressive. The limekilns were neat to see as well, which is an additional half...More

There are two short walks in the park. One takes to up to the old lime kilns through the Redwoods. The second walk takes you to a waterfall which is not very impressive. The walk to the waterfall is also more difficult.

We were visiting Big Sur Sept 15-17 and the fires were still burning on the East side of the mountain so most of the parks were still closed. We researched a bit more and took the 40 minute drive south and decided on trying this...More

I really wanted to make time for this stop, with its 2 main trails to the limestone kilns and the falls. It is a State park with an entry fee, and limited parking. You walk through the campground to get to the trails. There are...More

When you want a break from the beach or the beautiful coastal views while exploring Big Sur, take a few hours to hike up through this lush forest to the waterfalls at Limekiln State Park. Great camping sites available too.

Another California State Park gem with brooks and wildlife, dense forests and lovely trails. Beware park closings when wildfires rage, but if you can get it, it's another outdoor gem.

We will be camping at Limekiln in mid-April this year. We have site 18, a redwoods site. Has anyone else camped there during the month of April? What was the weather like, both in the campground and on the beach?

If March comes in like a lion and out like a lamb, you may have warm April weather. We just camped there last year and with a drought, the upper creek was loud and flowing. Site 18 is on the bluff above the creek and this... More

We had a 5 person tent with minivan and were in one of the redwood sites (#19 ?) and were very happy with it. Nicely shaded and the sound of a bubbling creek to go to sleep by. That said, we'd like to try one of the creek... More
