We have been many places and I always tell people that Highway 1 is the prettiest. The drive is gorgeous and the views are amazing. You have to experience this for yourself!

Here are some pictures of the Community Bypass Trail that starts at campsite #31 and ends on the Highway just south of the bridge construction. It's a very pretty hike. Half a mile long, and all uphill. Not difficult, but be prepared for some exercise.

We spent the night at Big Sur and lined to go on a hike. Only few trails are open now. It was nice to take a walk there

nice spot.park across hwy. walk in for free. long hikes or short. all the way to beach, pass over a small stream, lots of shade trees views.

I would call the lodge. I doubt if the park is open but you could picnic nearby. The coast near Carmel is beautiful and not as difficult to reach as Big Sur.

I don't think hiking boots are necessary. I had my trail runners they were more than enough.
