About
Built in 1932, Bixby bridge is a picturesque sight in stunning Big Sur and one of the most photographed bridges on the Pacific Coast Highway. But it's not just a photo opportunity; the area offers fantastic hiking and wildlife sightings as well. If you're looking for the best view of the bridge, park at the Castle Rock viewpoint on the north side, or head half a mile inland to the Bixby Bridge vista point. If you're planning to visit during golden hour, prepare for heavy traffic and scarce parking available, especially in the warmer months.

    Quick trip :)
Visited this location along highway 1 on a recent trip to Monterey. It’s free to visit, cool to take pics at and can almost be squeezed into any trip when going somewhere nearby. This is one of the bridges along hwy 1 built in 1932.

We saw it on the way down in the hour before sunset, which is the perfect light. We saw it on the way back on a grey morning (typical in summer with the fog) which was much less favourable for good photos. Check out if you can see wildlife in the sea below, whilst you look at the views.

    What an amazing trip
A must visit! Such an iconic site. The edge of the United States of America. It’s really beautiful to see the rocks’ edge and the ocean’s waves crashing against it. There’s a dirt road to the left of the bridge to be able to see the bridge from a different angle. Worth the very short drive from the bridge itself.

    Bridge + Ocean = Amazing
It truly is an amazing stop. The views of the bridge are incredible, but so is the view out into the ocean. There is ample parking on the ocean side and even more on the other side. Just don't park where it says not to. While we were there, we watched a CHP officer give two parkers $1,000 fine tickets for being in a very well signed no parking zone.

Well worth stopping for a few minutes on your way to Big Sur to check this out.
This is a sight to see. It will only take a few minutes to stop and have a look. As an engineer - I think it's a bit of an engineering wonder. And given we were in California (a bit worried about earthquakes), it was something to drive over! In any case, this is an engineering masterpiece and looks really cool

    Lovely and historic bridge
This is one of those things you need to stop and see when doing the Big Sur drive. While it is interesting to look at unless you are especially interested in bridge architecture I'd just make a brief stop. The coast is the star here and anything man made plays second fiddle.

This is a cool bridge. The views OF the bridge are best from the south. There is a vista point about 1/2 mile up the road. There is a paved spot on the north west side of the bridge if you want to stop and grab pics up close.

Bixby Bridge was on my bucket list and it did not disappoint. We drove down Highway 1 from the Northside and stopped along Bixby, Pfeiffer Beach and McWay Falls. The views from Highway 1 was exhilarating.

Driving the PCH was a bucket-list item for my husband. He was so happy to cross the gorgeous bridge on a beautiful October day. The Pacific was stunning.

Bixby Creek Bridge is well worth the turnout for a lengthy view of the incredible vista! The bridge itself is spectacular and the view of the surrounding shore is like nothing else!
