Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I've seen many monasteries but this location is different, as in extremely spectacular. Striking contract between the white monastery buildings and the mountains surrounding them. Very picturesque indeed. The road leading to it is also beautiful, right by the stunning Olt river, it is quite a treat to drive to it. There is also a small train station serving the monastery.
If you are driving along Olt or going to Calimanesti you must make a small detour and stop here for a couple of hours, you will not regret it!

I was happy to see that the cook, Father Dionisios, was still there, but I realized our relationship changed. He was distant..after all these years..I thought I would find a lost friend, but I was dissapointed.

Beautiful monastery, the location is perfect, you get to drive or walk through 2 mini tunnels to arrive atvthe monastery, right on the river. If you feel more adventurous, take the 2 hours easy trail until the Stanisoara Monastery.

Everything was a pleasant surprise, from the small chapel, to the gardens, very old caves, a beautiful pond with lilies.

I always love coming back here. The church is not so old as Cozia, since it had to be rebuilt after a fire, but lovely. Do climb to the two old dwellings of the first monks that stayed there.

Turnu Monastery (Tower) is placed on the left side of Olt River about 2 km from Cozia Monastery, founded by Mircea cel Batrân King, from Călimanești City.
Its name is coming from a tower built by Roman army from Arutela Roman camp in the 2nd century.
There are 2 caves were lived monks during the time. It is an excellent place for pray.
The landscapes is wonderful, the road is excellent!

We were hiking around the monastery and got invited into the kitchen where we were served a wonderful meal. I was also gifted a jar of honey. Is this typical? We gave him some money for the monastery when we left. I hope that was ok and didn’t offend him. Any thoughts on this?

Monasteries can invite you to have dinner or a meal there. It's just their way to welcome pilgrims/people. They even have accomodations for a very small fee to support the monastery
