About
Lysterfield Park is the perfect place to explore nature with friends. Spot kangaroos while walking or jogging the Lake Circuit Trail, ride mountain bike trails or relax at the lakeside picnic areas. You can sail, kayak or canoe in the lake, while runners love the network of gravel bush tracks. It is also home to one of Australia's busiest mountain biking trail networks – including the State Mountain Bike Course, easy green trails and action packed black diamond trails for experienced riders. Lysterfield is a great place to see kangaroos and wallabies in the wild close to Melbourne, so please ensure you leave your dog at home and don't disturb the local wildlife. The kangaroos and wallabies are most active during the mornings and evenings.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We kayaked here at sunset
The weather was 30’C and the water was really warm.
There is a boat ramp but it has been overgrown with water reeds however it is easy to launch here from the bank of the lake.
There is ample parking - offload your gear and quickly park elsewhere with a very short walk back to Lake
The amenities are very clean also.
The Lake offers lots of wildlife and bush scenery.
The surrounds has a really great walk and bike trail for most abilities
Kangaroos a plenty and a “beach” to swim.
This is a dog free location and there are no cafes so byo refreshments

You cannot access Lysterfield Park from Reservoir Road. Entry is Horsewood Road, Narre Warren North.

Lovely park and well worth visiting.

This is a great spot for a walk, ride, kayak or swim! Gets very busy, so best to go during off-peak times. Toilets need some better maintenance/cleaning (or better still, some upgrades) due to the amount of people now visiting this place.

If you haven't been to this piece of Heaven, you should. Not just a beauty to relax and soak-in nature, but also a beauty that offers many trail-walks, Kangaroos and Wallabies (closest area to find near Melbourne, in wild) and a lake set-up for an awesome one day picnic.

I’ve been MTBing here for years, but it’s getting to the point that if you try and cycle after 9am, a) getting a car park is difficult b) the trails are swamped with dad and kids on the trails. Yes, the trails are for everyone, but sheesh! is it getting busy with a decreased enjoyment level.

Lake currently close due to high bacteria levels.
Should have signage at entry gate and on the website.
Still a few young children swimming in front of the warning sign.
Normally a great spot for a long swim. So rating above is just for today.

The lake is a beautiful place, great to walk around or kayak.
Easy to launch kayaks, but the grass area leading to the waterline can be alittle muddy after heavy rain.
Definitely worth taking your kaak/boat/canoe yo have a paddle with the family.

This large expanse of natural Australian bush-land sits to the south of the Dandenong Ranges and great it has not seen any urban development. The lake area was pleasant enough but the walking trails were just your average bush with no view of the lake. There were Kangaroos and Wallaby's on view, a positive.
