It's a big Monastery, very impressive on a sunny day, but not so nice on a miserably rainy day when the clouds have socked it in. I've seen it in both types of weathers, and the difference is extraordinary. It's very pretty on a nice...More

This is a Buddhist monastery, and we had a special ceremony (12,000 local rupees for 12 people) which was rather amazing. The monks greeted us with some tea with yak milk, and started reading some scriptures, unwrapping and meticulously wrapping them again for about an...More

Interesting visit to the monastery in the mountains. Observed a prayer ceremony but it got too cold for comfort after a while so I had to quietly take my leave. Interesting architecture and design. Worth a visit!

Around 3PM the monks meet and visitors are welcome to sit in - shoes off (wear socks - its cold!), absolute silence. The chanting is mesmerizing and relaxing. Great time to take a nice break after trekking. No photos inside are allowed.
