the outside pool is hard but takes time, inside the pool. ate it later caught from the indoor pool. Yummy, get it cooked and don't eat anything until then. really Nice staff. funny when the trout tease you in the outside pool.

Took my grandson fishing today to farm. I am a senior so $8.50 not to fish but entry to watch. Grandson was $8.50 plus rod $4.00. Caught fish per kilo $21.00 plus $4 per fish to clean. He caught two fish, one in outside dam and one inside totaling $16.10 for fish only. So for the two fish caught without coffee and ice cream came to $46.10. Tonight we cooked up our expensive fish and with out saying the one caught in the dam tasted of mud. The one that caught itself inside was very nice. I have attended another trout farm in Macclesfield and found the day much cheaper and taster.

Thanks for letting our Tripadvisor viewers know our pricing. (Again!!!) It seems someone has to do this every 2 months even though its clearly displayed on our website and explained upon entry. - There are no surprises, just winging. Our attraction offers an experience- Not just Fish N Chips. Putting value on experience is difficult but we do hope your grandson had a great time fishing and $45 for all day entertainment and 2 meals is pretty good value in my eyes. Interesting that you mention a muddy taste as exactly the same perfect quality water is used in both our Outdoor Trophy Lake, and our Indoor Rainforest Pool. Its funny to see that as soon as we get a little wind or rain, and the water clouds a little, that according to customers perception, the fish are supposed to absorb it. Carp do - they are bottom feeders that sift through mud. We hope you enjoy Macclesfeild, fishing in ponds that are 2m wide. - The pricing is almost exactly the same, but Trip Advisor Wingers ALWAYS know best. Good luck to ya

Dropped into the store at the trout farm to purchase 5 smoked trout to take back to Melbourne after a long weekend. The young lady who served me wrapped all 5 together in one paper bag. After paying a good $60 later, I asked for 2 paper bags so I could seperate my purchases for my family only to be refused by a cranky old lady (who I believe) was the manager. I mean - two paper bags? Your kidding me. Shame on you and your disgusting money hungry business.

Hi RoseMatilda, We did ask you if you would like your fish wrapped separately or together, and you advised us that all together was fine. You would have noticed that they were wrapped in grease-proof paper, and then in butchers paper. If the fish are put straight into paper bags, because of the beautiful moisture inside our smoked trout, the bags simply fall apart. Sorry for any confusion, we simply try and provide the best service we can, with the information customers give us.

Catch your own fish and it’s on the plate in 15 minutes; unbelievably tender rainbow trout and delicately flavoured in lemon myrtle batter. As good this time as every other time over the past five years! This place is extraordinary, really. I just can’t eat fish anywhere else now without feeling just a bit disappointed - it’s that good. Fish in the rainforest fishing pool indoors (easy) or at the trout lake outside (not so easy). Take your fish away cleaned, gills, guts and scales removed, or they’ll prepare it for you to eat there or take away. A nice stroll along the bush tucker nature walk around the property is very interesting. Tou can buy bush tucker pot plants too and various native herbs and paraphernalia. A great outing for anyone.

We were here about 11 am and I think the fish must have been asleep still. In theory this was great. The kids loved the idea of catching a trout band they guaranteed a fish. Sadly we didn’t catch a thing, not even in the easy pond. Just not out day Problem I have is that you pay to fish then pay to catch then pay to clean then pay to eat. Can get a little expensive if you have multiple Fisher people

Hi Turtle73lp, Thanks for your review. With the timing of your review, we believe you visited us during the 2 X 40 Degree Celsius days and thanks for coming during the heat. Being a cold water fish (From Canada/Alaska) Trout will switch off the bite when warmer conditions are present. - its their nature and we have no control over that!! As we guarantee a catch within our venue, we do hope that you spoke to our counter staff to recieve your free family pass for your next visit - having not caught any. It is extremely uncommon for customers not to catch anything as we invested in a chiller for our indoor Rain Forest pool about 4 years ago to make sure this didn't happen. I do admit that when temps are around 40 degrees, there really isn't any amount of cooling that can be done to keep the fish happy. Part of keeping a cold water loving fish across a hot Australian Summer. All of our prices are within our website and our partner websites including Google, along with this being thoroughly explained at front counter upon arrival. So we try and combat any surprises, however sometimes, its hard to relay this information when people simply want to get fishing and won't listen to the way it works. We have a direct fish supplier on Phillip Island who are currently charging $60 per KG for frozen whiting fillets that still contains bones. Our $21 per KG for fresh fish caught yourself is a very good price for delicious fresh fish. We hope to see you again. Warm regards,
