Every visitor to the Dominican Republic should come here. Very nice, well kept and clean plantation with friendly, welcoming staff. Delicious hot chocolate to greet you (the one made with water is particularly delicious). Great tour that is complete and not too long. You'll be rewarded with their superior chocolate at the end. Oh, and definitely stay for lunch while... More

It was worth the money for sure. Had to deposit money in their bank account which was kind of sketchy but it was fine.

I would recommend visiting this place with family and friends as a short day trip adventure. For less than US$ 25 you get to learn and experience the whole chocolate making process. As a chocolate connoisseur I found this tour analysis disappointing. Zero to none deep knowledge on farming and fermentation best practices. Staff was unable to answer some questions related to cacao varieties. I have took this kind of tours in Venezuela, Ecuador and Peru (Venezuelan one was amazing) and of all them we absolutely charming and very knowledgeable. In the... More

First, they welcome you with a cup of homemade hot cocoa and then take you to the tour where they teach you how the first habitants of the island cooked and ate the cacao. The tour ends in a... We booked the tour through Gray Line Tours. They have an office at the Sheraton Hotel in Santo Domingo. The Sheraton is an okay place to stay, but it needs a face lift. Gray Line Tours provided us with a roundtrip "VIP" ride to El Sendero del Cacao from the Sheraton. The ride is about 1 1/2 hours. We rode... More
