13/4/2021 public holiday for Malaysia in weekday. Brought my kids and wife came to Desaru for day trip. Due to CMCO public beach is closed and we change plan to visit this ostrich farm instead. After 20mins drive, reached here and found out it's closed. Truly disappointed that this farm was closed in public holiday

Went there last weekend for a visit, but got to understand that this farm is now closed. Such a disappointment for the kids as it does not seem to be updated anywhere online that it is currently closed. Hope it reopens soon, please do be aware that this farm is currently closed i guess till further notice.

Visited with my family and we had a great time. You can feed the ostriches by purchasing some vegetables.

There are a couple of free range ostrich that walked about freely. It was pretty awesome to be able to get up close with them.

Had the ostrich egg omelette which was yummy! We tried the plain one and the one with cheese. Just go for the plain ones. The cheese one wasn't that great.

over priced but a good place for kids
Dec. 2019
the entrance ticket is RM20 for adults. the RM20 price was labelled over the RM12 pricing on the ticket.

we went during a rainy season, so it was raining when we visited. you can still explore the place with an umbrella. Some area is sheltered and you can get up close with the ostriches. You can also buy some plants at the entrance to feed the ostriches.

the visit will start with a little lecture about ostriches etc and it will be free and easy.

however, most of the ostriches seem to look like they are in bad shape. not too sure if it is because of the rain or otherwise. I will just let the photos speak for itself.

Agreed: Good place for children
Dec. 2019
We were a group of 7 (2 families), and after having read the reviews about the farm, we decided to go as we had children with and it was too short a weekend vacation to do anything big.

If you go during the monsoon season, like we did, then perhaps it is better to wear footwear which you don't mind getting dirty in, as the place was very wet and muddy and as with all places where many animals are kept, it does smell like a zoo. So, if you do not like wet, muddy and smell, then you can strike this off your to-visit list.

The place is situated off a small turn by the roadside. Entry ticket prices are ok. Once you've bought the tickets you will sit down for a short briefing about the farm and some trivia about ostriches and animals in particular, which I feel any 10 year-old with an inquiring mind would already know. Don't be fussy about cleanliness of the place because this is basically a roadside farm. During the briefing itself you'll be asked if you want a once-in-a-lifetime experience of eating ostrich omelette, original or with cheese. If you do choose to try, payment is made on the spot and you'll be given a token later to claim your by-then cooked egg (not the whole egg though, come on, it's an ostrich egg!).

The ostrich feed costs 2 ringgit, so I guess you can feed as many ostriches as you like as much as you want. On that note, there are also live chickens for sale on the premises. After feeding the ostriches, we were given a demo on how the egg is broken. I guess you could really go for that if your'e into it but it's not a big deal. The egg that was broken that day when we visited was the same egg that they cooked for us.

They would also try to sell you some facial stuff made from.....ostrich stuff, with the same gimmicks that come with trying to sell facial stuff. You know what I mean. Fall for that if you want.

Overall, I guess you could go to the ostrich farm if you have kids with you, or if you're really dying to feed or have a photo op with an ostrich. Otherwise, giving this farm a miss is not a big deal. At all.

Good place for children

The farm was rather small and a bit of a drive from desaru beach, but we still had a good time nevertheless. Once we entered, we were given a short tour and some nuggets of info abt ostriches and how to approach them. After which we had time to roam arnd the farm, feed the ostriches, and take pics. My toddler was particularly engaged throughout. We were also given a demo of how to crack an ostrich egg. There’s a restaurant outside serving a variety if ostrich dishes. Overall a good visit especially for kids.

Concerned about the welfare of the ostriches
Dec. 2019
It looked like we were visiting the backyard of somebody's home but the farm, hidden behind the ticket desk and souvenir shop, was really quite big. Expecting a free and easy roam around the farm, I was rather surprised that the visit came with a tour led by a young chap, who shared interesting nuggets of trivia about the ostriches. The tour was short, informative and quite enjoyable.
We were, however, very concerned about the welfare of the ostriches. We found out that there were several young ostriches that had problems with their legs, a few older ones that had their wings bent awkwardly - seemingly broken, and that there aren't any vets available if the ostriches had any sort of medical conditions ("the vets are all in africa").
One of the ostriches is designated for rides, and can only take riders weighing 30kg and below. We were told that the weight limit has been reduced as the ostrich's legs weren't well - one has to wonder why they didn't retire the bird instead.
While it was really interesting to see the ostriches up close, we left feeling rather uneasy at the plight of the birds.

A good choice of half day excursion
Sep. 2019
Brought whole family there and my gals had a great time.

The ticket price has been increased to 20RM for adult and 15RM for child. Once going in, an uncle shared with us some fun facts about ostriches and its egg. They also placed an egg in the sand for everyone to step on it (it can take up to 150kg weight). If you want to feed the ostriches, you need to buy the corn for 2RM. You can also ride the ostrich (Lulu) if your weight is below 30kg, which costs the parent another 20RM. Some staff will help you get on it and hold it in place for photo taking. There won't be any riding on it for a good run.

At the end of the show, if anyone orders the ostrich omelette (10RM for original, and 15RM for cheese), one staff will show how the egg is opened with drill and nail. We ordered the original flavor, which tastes just like chicken egg. Nothing fantastic.

They also have a small gift shop near the entrance. An ostrich egg shell costs 20RM.

Skip if you don't have kids with you
Aug. 2019
The ostrich farm is in a small town at the south eastern corner of Johor. There is little else to do in the town so you have to decide if this is a trip you feel worth taking. You'll spend maybe 20-30 minutes there, tops.

It's a costly visit so here are the figures you should know:
RM20 for adult tickets
RM15 for children tickets
Ostrich egg omelette: RM15
Ostrich egg omelette with cheese: RM20
RM2/bunch for leaves to feed the ostriches
RM20 to ride the ostrich and get a certificate.
RM80 for a fresh ostrich egg.

You do get some stuff for free:
Parking up front is free.
Stand on an ostrich egg: free.
Listen to an educational talk about ostriches: free.
Take pictures with ostriches: priceless.

Go if you have kids who want to see ostriches, skip if you don't. The place is sandy so don't wear your best shoes there.
