Incredible experience to be so close to the amazing creatures. The maintenance and upkeep of the camp and the habitat is not easy task. A memorable must do when you get the chance!

Amazing Experience!
Feb. 2020 • Couples
Me and my husband absolutely loved our day on the boat! All the staff were incredibly lovely and so considerate. They constantly went above and beyond and were always smiling too :-)

They cooked us up the most fantastic feast! Some of the best food we'd had in Indonesia.

They were all so knowledgeable on the wildlife in Borneo. Which was great for us, as we had lots of questions :-)

We got so lucky on our trip. Not only did we get to see the incredible Orangutans, we also saw Proboscis Monkeys and 2 Saltwater Crocodiles!!
Plus tons of beautiful birds and butterflies.

If you are a fan of nature then this is definitely the tour for you!

We absolutely loved it! :-)

Thank you all again, so much!

Jennie Subaru was recommended by a friend and all the communication was very clear by email and WhatsApp. We ended up not going to Borneo for personal reasons but we will book with Jenie for sure the next time we come.

OH MY GOD! SPEACHLESS!
Jan. 2020
I have no words. Just wow! I had high expectations because of the great reviews here, but oh boy the real deal exceeded all my expectations far and beyond!

We were lucky we found this beautiful small organization Local Guides on local-guides.org. They just completely smashed it. Fantastic guys out there, with an incredibly big heart for their nature and community.

Our tour was so stunning all because of these passionate and super friendly organization that only wanted us to have an unforgettable journey (as we did!) and help their community and fight palm oil! Palm oil is a big issue in Kalimantan in general and I was so inspired by Local Guides commitment in this fight and their effort to increase awareness (without being intrusive at all) about just how much palm we – as unaware consumers – use on a daily basis!

The boat fantastic! Super clean! Very charming! Simple shower and toilet (both in western style / so no squatting in the toilet fortunately!). Our guide was absolutely amazing. He knew so much about every ranger station and the park in general, and was an extremely fun person just to hang out with.

And then there is the food. Yam yam PERFECT! DELICIOUS! Best food we had in Indonesia, and we had a lot of great food!

Initially we were a bit concerned that this place would be just like any other touristic place where you have to constantly negotiate prices down and have to be suspicious that nobody is taking advantage of my ignorance about the area. But with local-guides I never had this feeling. Sal was always so honest with us, and on the spot they helped us arrange taxis and accommodations for a discount and never asked for any service fee. And while the tours always finish in the morning and our flight was in the late afternoon, they got us a free city tour and paid for our lunch because they insisted that we our just their guests and they want us to leave with beautiful memories. Well, we did!

What a beaitufl place and what a fantastic people! Tip: Go with local-guides before they are "found"!

3 Day, 2 Night Houseboat Tour
Feb. 2020
We booked through Fardi, orangutanhouseboattour.com, for the 3 day, 2 night tour into Tanjung Puting. It was a once in a lifetime experience. The perfect balance of activity and relaxing. The perfect mix of pampering and nature. Fardi was really responsive to emails and easy to work with. Ryan was our guide - very knowledgeable and helpful throughout. We had a full crew - guide, captain, assistant captain, and cook. The food was DELICIOUS. Price for the entire trip was really reasonable.

The boat was great - well prepared for the heavy rain (a system of tarps to keep the water out). Shower and electricity on the boat. We fly into PKN and went straight to the boat and got on our way. The last day, we went straight from the boat to the airport. Would have been happy with a 4th day but didn't feel rushed with only 3 days.

We saw 8 semi-wild orangutans. It was incredible. Also saw some probiscus monkeys, lots of unique birds, learned a ton about the rainforest. Recommend reading Dr. Galdikas's Reflections of Eden while you are out there to fully immerse yourself!

Stunning experience! Super nice boat! Friendly staff!
Aug. 2019
Tanjung Puting is a stunning place where you can see orangutans in their natural habitat through a very romantic cruise setting! Pangkalan Bun is easily reachable by air, and the tour basically starts upon your arrival at the airport and also ends here to catch a flight to the next destination. Because of these perfect ingredients, it is no surprise that in high season there are many other visitors and – as long as you know about this – it is still absolutely a life changing experience to visit this place asap as soon I’m sure it cannot be affordable anymore for the laymen.

Personally, I had a small budget but at the same time I didn’t want to risk taking a too cheap tour as I wanted to be sure that for the distance I travelled I would get great value for money. For this reason I booked with local-guides because they are praised for using experienced guides, using comfortable boats and preparing delicious food, and all that for a very good price compared to the alternatives I found.

Sal from Local Guides was our hero as we planned our holiday as we asked a tons of questions. Our guide Kris was perfect! Very knowledgable and super fun person, and at the same time he really valued our privacy and had a very strong sense when to leave us alone. We saw so many orangutans and everything was perfect.
Time has flown too fast. Sleeping on the boat is a wonderful experience and not even an insect during the night. Good food and so much!

Absolutely stunning!

Jenie Subaru Klotok Tour
Jan. 2020 • Couples
We had an awesome few days on the klotok tour. Jenie and his cousin Sandi were so friendly and had great English. They picked us up from the airport and went out of their way to detour to the bus station to pre-purchase a bus ticket for after the tour and find an ATM. The 4 staff on the boat are all family members. We asked for vegetarian food and it was all delicious - a relief after some poor food in Indonesia. The tour was great, we saw lots of orangutans and also many creatures including a tarsier in the night walk. The boat is basic as expected but the mozzie net worked well at night and was a great experience sleeping outside through huge storms and hearing the nature around you. We were very aware of the terrible plastic pollution in Indonesia so the only thing we would prefer is to have a large water dispenser to refill rather than many small bottles, although appreciate this makes it hard to keep cold. Overall would definitely recommend Jenie and his team for this experience!!

Tanjung Puting Orangutan Tour - Jenie Subaru
Jan. 2020 • Couples
Jenie Subaru’s Tanjung Puting Orangutan Tour was the most incredible experience and I absolutely recommend it to anyone who is thinking of visiting the Tajung Puting national park in Kalimantan. It really was the highlight of our 5 month south East Asian trip. From start to finish the tour exceeded all expectations, the crew on the boat were amazing, as well as the guide who came with us. Sleeping on the deck of the boat in the middle of the jungle was an unforgettable experience. The local food that was cooked for us on the boat was fresh and tasted incredible! We did the 3D2N tour which meant we got to go to three different orangutan feeding stations. From the boat we also saw so much wildlife including proboscis monkeys, langurs, macaques, hornbill, kingfishers and so much more! What made it feel ever more worth it was that Jenie teaches young locals about orangutan conservation and how to help! On our last day we had a bit of time to spare before our flight, Jenie was so kind and showed us around the local village so that we could experience more of Kumai. Overall, I have to say that we will definitely be doing this tour again with Jenie as it was just perfect!

3day/2night Tanjung Puting National Park orangutan experience
Dec. 2019 • Couples
We booked our trip through Aria Prasetio from Borneo Orangatung viaje. His WhatsApp number +62 822-3448-8428. Our tour was fantastic, Anwar was our guide, and he was great. In the 3 days we say at least 32 different orangatungs. On two different encounters they past right by us and we could almost touch them. It was great just to sit and watch them. The boat was great, we had a smaller boat than most and it was great. The food was plenty and very tasty and varied. There was a western style toilet and clean water shower. There were no mosquitoes on the boat when we were there, there was however a few in the national park at dusk and dawn though. We also saw a hundred or so proboscis monkeys at dusk swinging from treetops. Thanks Anwar and Aria.
