Although the visitor centre was closed when we went (a Sunday), this is one of the most interesting areas to go walking in Malta's mainland. The is, in effect, at the back of the Radisson hotel on golden Bay. There are several routes to follow but we took the coastal route leading to the edge of the cliffs, before dropping... More

We stumbled upon this area some years ago an d it has become a regular escape on our regular visits to Malta. We arrived back from our latest visit a few days ago, a visit when we discovered Jeni Caruana's exhibition "Arbor Vitae" in the centre. Lovely.

The park and its visitor centre are worthy of your visit. There are not too many natural open spaces left on Malta so this place deserves your support.

This park simply is a wilderness to be cherished, flora and fauna with a history, get good information from the visitor centre, a walk through the history of the park and how it became a special site still with some of the barracks and training grounds from ww2 the rifle range and billets, lookout posts and markers still there, be... Congrats to the guardians of this public park for achieving a Certificate of excellence in 2016. Fortunately this site is not a touristic attraction and is only discovered by lovers of nature. Typical of Malta's landscape, and unlike other European parks, the area is rocky with very few trees. The beauty lies in the cliffs and coastal seascape. A true... More

We were staying at Radisson Blu Golden Sands so Il-Majjistral was right next door, but the road almost looked closed and we saw now signs before we were right there. We walked for a bit along the coast and there are some interesting rock formations and a nice view over the bay. But there are also pieces of walls and... More

The coastal walks around the park are super and the views of the cliffs and sea are beautiful. The park itself is ok, very dry and scrubby I suppose with some old buildings/ruins dotted around but not really my idea of beauty. If you are lucky you will spot lizards and maybe the odd snake but they generally scuttle off... More

There are still plenty of untouched areas that you can visit on Malta, but few are as accessible as Il-Majjistral. Adjacent to Golden Bay, there is plenty of parking either at the bay itself or where we parked, opposite the cub scout centre. We only walked for about 3 miles along the cliffs, but there's so much more to see... More
