Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Cafe at the station is only open during April to October. The vending machine on site only accepts cash or coin and does not accept card. This means if you are stopping for longer periods during the winter months you have no access to food or water. I wouldn’t recommend stopping here for any longer than 10 minutes. The station seriously needs to consider changing their vending machine to allow card. The coffee machine was also out of order while we were there.

Mrydal is not a normal station. Its surroundings are so beautiful that you won't mind spending some time over here. We were lucky to get some time time here while going to Flam and back. The view of snow covered moutains was stunning. The weather was cold and fog in atmosphere added to its beauty. The station has got a cafe where one can get snacks and tea/coffee.

Myrdal is a changeover station for many, but we had the pleasure of staying there. It's a small station with 8-10 houses nearby. Cafe is small with limited hours, so don't expect too much. But, if you are a sucker for scenery and small villages, you'd enjoy this place. Ziplining starting point is at 15 minutes walking distance from here.

There’s really nothing but the train station in Myrdal, but it offers a break from train riding whether you’re transferring to or from the scenic railway. Grab an ice cream and a coke, walk around to enjoy the views, use the restroom (much nicer than those on The “regular” train).

I highly recommend the flam rail, so exciting for kids and adults alike. Honestly sights to behold, majestic beauty of the flam valley and the rail line historically sound.
The only and very disappointing problem was at the Myrdal train station cafe. The young lady serving was rude and extremely condescending when I asked about the self serve coffee. For someone who has previously work in hospitality, I can say it was poorly signed about the cost, which is why I asked the question I asked her. Sadly this young lady decided to ridicule her foreign customer and rudely responded. Quiet frankly if I wasn't so jet lagged I would've passed on the coffee.
Anyway if you happen to come across this sad young lady who has let her home town down and burnt an everlasting poor memory of her country folk on our minds, please don't ask her about the coffee as she'll burn you disgracefully.

We waited for the Oslo train here after traveling up the Flåm railway. In winter there is a long gap between the last daylight Flam train and the Oslo train.
You can wait here at Myrdal where there is a warm waiting room and not much else. We chose instead to get off a stop earlier and sat in the Hotel Vatnahalsen Hoyfjellshotell.
Much better.

This is an unstaffed station, primarily the junction with the Flam Railway. There’s a small cafe, actually fairly nice while you wait. There is no ticket window and no one to make inquiries of. Don’t plan to buy of print tickets there.

We visited during our Norway in a Nutshell tour (I did a DIY). Since we travel in Winter, the sun sunsets earlier. So I decided to take earlier train(14:40-15:30) from Flam to Myrdal to see the famous scenery. It was worth it. Next train from Myrdal to Oslo was at 17:54 so we had 2.5hr layover. There were no cafe or shops opened but It was warm in the station. We did not walk around the neighbourhood either since it was snowing heavily. We played in the snow and took photos instead.

The view and the surroundings are majestic. The Flam railway stops right outside the Vatnahalsen. It’s about 6 min with the train from Myrdal to Vatnahalsen hotel, the first stop. Stop for a cup of coffee and a waffle before the 15-20 minute walk back; Recommended to experience nature.

As many people wrote here, Myrdal is the beginning (or the end) of famous Flåmbanen - the train which starts at 860 meters (Myrdal) and stops at Flåm (0 m), where you can take boat to travel the fjords. The railway is amazing, but before you take it, i strongly recommend to spend 2-3 hours to walk around Myrdal station (as we did). Beautiful nature: mountains, waterfalls, lakes, you won't regret that.

Need to ask your opinion, I am coming from Voss to do the Flam train from Myrdal, the transit time is 4 minutes. If the schedule which normally punctual I will have enough time to transfer to the FLAM train..
What do you think? is 4 minutes enough? without any luggage.

Can I pick up reserved tickets at the Myrdal station? If not, where should I pick them up if I'm getting on the train at Arna?
Written 28 June 2018
Hi, If I am not wrong, you would have received them via email or if you booked on app, you will have it stored in there. You can just show e ticket to the conductor. No printing required.
Have a great trip.

Are there lockers to stow luggage at the Myrdal station if we want to hike during our 3 hour layover?
Written 26 May 2018
Is it reasonable to transfer in the Myrdal Station from the train arriving from Bergen to the Flam train in only 7 minutes?
(There are no "normal" trains to Flam, right? This would be the "scenic" train if booked through from Bergen to Flam?)
Thank you so much for your advice!

I read on other forums before that even if the train is late, they will wait for each other so it should be ok.
From my experience, it is just right train track to left train track, transfer is very fast.
There is only Flam Railway to Flam and yes, it is considered most scenic train ride in the world.
Tips: Try to sit on the left side of the train for a better view, if you are going from Bergen to Flam.

Does anyone know if there are actual storage bag lockers at the railway station in Myrdal? Although the NSB website states there are lockers, when I inquired via email from the Flam visitor center staff, I was advised that there are no lockers. I searched photos taken by visitors in Myrdal but I found none showing the station inside, hence, I cannot substantiate the existence of actual lockers.

Are there any walks to do near the station as we have over an hour before our return to Flam?
Written 20 April 2016
Yes, just start walking on the trail towards Vatnahalsen and you should see the best part of the Rallaveg trail. Time yourself - after 20-25 minutes turn back allowing yourself enough time to get back to Myrdal. Or - as an alternative - just hop on the train in Vatnahalsen.
