We are a group of friends paying regular visits to wineries for wine tastings. We wanted since a long time to pay a visit to Basilescu winery being impressed of few of their wines. The winery belonged to one famous Romanian lawyer and the estate, nationalised by the communists, has been restituted to the family some years ago. It then entered into the ownership of a lawyer who is trying to do good things but, as far as we saw, lacks the resources. The pricd of the tasting is expensive compared with the competition. Quality of the wine was ok without being outstanding. Services and tour of the winery were poor. Constructions are done without real taste. All on all, expensive for the quality. A pitty for the place and its history.

Been there one weekend morning with a bunch of friends to visit the place and taste the wines. Very warm welcome and nice wine tasting setup. Wines are very good and our host managed to make the entire experience very enjoyable. Unfortunately we had another appointment we needed to honor so we could only spend about 2 hours here. But it's been quite enough to make us want to return for a longer stay as we've been told there's quite more to the experience if you have some time..:
