About
Windy Creek Estate, formally Cobanov Wines, was first established in 1937 by Ante Cobanov. He had left Croatia in 1924 and spent 13 years cutting sleepers in the south-west to enable him to put a deposit on this Swan Valley property. In 1937 he bought the fertile coastal plain land that is still the core of the family business and sent for his wife and sons. They grew grapes for dried fruit production but made a small amountof wine for the Perth immigrant community. The family has continued to produce wines for 80 years and we have been selling fruit to other wineries for approximately 40 years. The Windy Creek Estate label was first released in 1980. Tony Cobanov, the current winemaker, entered the industry as a third generation winemaker and is very passionate about the Swan Valley and its lifestyle. He has 3 sons Joshua, Callum and Rohan so it is a distinct possibility that this will become a 4th generation business and he can’t think of anything better than that.

We visited this winery today on a wine tour, straight away we felt uncomfortable the lady who was hosting the tasting was especially rude to our group. She made multiple sarcastic comments to us, when asking what wine she recommended she said ‘just choose, the other group did’ and when I asked for a specific wine she then said ‘you can’t go back and fourth so just pick’. She was making comments and giving us nasty looks during the tasing. We will never visit this ‘family run business’ again. It’s a shame because this experience ruined our wine tour. Never again, we would NOT recommend.

I don’t usually write reviews but that of Nicole of Canberra is so absurd I feel compelled to respond.
The wines at this place are extraordinary for the quality/price rapport, as evidenced by consistently excellent results at the Swan Valley Wine Show and their prices relative to other valley wines - about half if you buy a box.
Anyone who would describe the wines as mediocre has no understanding of wine.
The ladies who show the wines are in my experience always friendly and helpful, and the tasting area , which looks out over the very pretty vineyard, is true to the cultural background of the valley.
I have been visiting the valley since my student days and Windy Creek is close to the top of all the little wineries that have so delighted me over many years. I can’t recommend the place highly enough.

This winery was a recommendation from the local visitor information centre and it was one great recommendation. We were made very welcome by Ruth and after being very surprised by the range of wines and the prices, were very impressed by the quality. We also visited a few big name wineries in the Swan Valley with prices twice what Windy Creek charge but the quality was the same. So, great value for money, saved by someone who is part of the story, makes for a very compelling view of this winery. Wish we had a few like this in Victoria.

Great wines, lovely hosts, relaxed and beautiful surroundings. I make this one of my regular stops on each visit to the Swan Valley. The price of wines are extremely reasonable for the quality. And the complimentary cheese just adds that little extra to the whole experience.

Great wines at amazing prices. Excellent, friendly and knowledgeable service from Ruth who couldn't do enough for our group of 10 friends. We had a wine tasting ($5 pp accompanied by yummy cheese and biscuits), then moved out into the relaxed and picturesque grounds where we had a long lunch with our own picnic food, having bought some wines for lunch. Of course, we couldn't go past loading up on some of those great wines to take home too. Thank you Ruth and staff, we'll be back!

Small independent winery we visited as part of an organised wine tour. A vey good selection of wines to taste including Vedelho, Sauvignon Blanc and Chenin in the white corner and Grenache, Cabernet Merlot and Shiraz in the red corner. The winery also produces fortified wines. Friendly unhurried wine tasting. Note the wines are only available at the winery but all seemed to be very good value.

I am so glad you enjoyed your visit to us and didn't feel rushed, even though you were on a time schedule with a tour group. Thank you for writing such a positive review.

The half day winery tour was enjoyable for the price with efficient pick up and drop off. Wines were not of the premium range although for the price and convenience it is still a good day out. Would have given this 5 stars if not for the relish I purchased on Nov 2024 which had Dec 2024 as the best before date. This was at Windy Creek Estate and the brand of the relish is Wicked Stepmother’s. This is not a store where you choose your products and bring it to the counter to pay. There was a display with the range of relishes available for sale, you tell the lady at the counter what you’re after, she takes it from her storage, packs it with your name marked on the bag and she passes it to the bus driver to keep in the storage area in the bus. Time is short and you are rushed back to the bus to the next location. Disappointing to have taken the effort of bringing it back interstate. Glad this was not given as a gift as it would have been embarrassing. Emailed feedback to Swan Valley Tours, no response received.

Great winery. Great wines, friendly and they even offer a bit of cheese while you taste ! Very affordable wines too. One of the best bars too, long wooden, curved, laminated panels, amazing thing. Would go back if I didn't live interstate!

We love Windy Creek, from their wine to their customer service.
The setting is absolutely beautiful, for me it always has been but it has come along way since I first went in 2010.
This time I took a few mums with me and even the none wine drinkers got in on the tastings.
Its a must see for all

This was the first time to have ever visited this winery. It was surprisingly large winery and had a good range of wines on offer. We enjoyed several of the wine tastings and sampled as many as we purchased. We were on a swan valley tour and this was the last port of call for the day so was only a relatively brief visit. It may have been short pit stop but an enjoyable one.
