The Lake Yajoa area is quite nice but many zoom by on the main road between SPS and Tegucigalpa. It's well worth visiting the area and the hotel options are improving although restaurants could improve (fried fish is still the best thing). The D&D brewery outside Pena Blanca has reasonable rooms and the Finca Las Glorias hotel is right on... More

Stopped at a small fish restaurant overlooking lake on way to Panacam Lodge and was very pleasantly surprised by the number of birds seen here. Am unsure about the types of activities offered in the area (was with my own guide) although later visited one hotel on the shoreline for breakfast but would recommend the area for those interested in... This April 2, 2016 visit is a second visit to the lake, with viewing/birding from a different point than the restaurant area. We walked a wide path beginning across the road from La Naranja Archaeological site. Scrub, grassland and lake birds made up a long list that included Lesser Yellow-headed Vulture, duck species, Northern Jacana, Black-necked Stilt, Purple and Common... More

Beautiful lake, offers fishing, boating, from area businesses. Boat tours around the lake, many local restaurants, and horseback riding, or hiking.

lake Yojoa itself is a beautiful natural scenery where one can relax and enjoy nature while eating a good whole fried fish with "encurtidos" (cured onions and carrots in vinegar) at many of the restaurants at the side of the road... I don't remember the one I went, it has been twice in a 10-year lapse and still is the... More

Very pretty lake about an hour from San Pedro Sula. Make sure the eat the fresh fried fish while you are there. There is a strip of open-air, lake side restaurants with wonderful views of the lake, and I've eaten at a few and they are all good.

I went to eat to a restaurant on the road with a great view of the lake! Lake is drying up but still there is a great view!! Fish is si cheap. You pay 7 dollars for a huge dish of fish and fried plantains with free refill of plantains!! :)

Great destination for a family weekend. Try the fish for lunch, most are raised in floating cages in the lake. There are many things to do in the area. Go to the falls and do the zip lines. The Zoo is a great morning too.

A popular stop for lunch overlooking the lake is El Dorado Restaurant. It offers a nice break to a long ride.
