Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

Overview: The park is pristine and well worth the visit and price of admission (180 L- $8). The views from the sinai trail are spectacular but the hike is very difficult. For the less adventurous there are bird watching towers and easier trails that offer good views and ambiance. They also have a waterfall area you can swim in which is spectacular and easy to get to.

Sinai Trail. This trail ascends 1600 meters vertically over any 2400 meters in length. An average grade of almost 40 degrees! It's much steeper in some areas. Imagine climbing stairs for 1.5-2 miles. Add in 100% humidity at 90 degrees Fahrenheit and an altitude change and you have a difficult challenge ahead. The views are worth it (but you leg muscles may disagree). Plenty of benches and places to stop and rest. The trail is decent and well kept but is narrow, rocky, and lots of roots. Trail takes 3.5 hours with minimal breaks up to 6 I'd you really take your time. I recommend taking tons of water. We packed 3 liters and ran out half way through the 6 km trail. I did drink water directly from the waterfalls and it was fine. Very good quality and refreshing.

Waterfall: there is only one waterfall you can swim in, as all the others are sourced as drinking water. It's probably 65 degrees Fahrenheit but amazing to cool off after sweating 1/3 of your body weight for 4 hours. Highly recommend and very scenic.

Getting there: we stayed at DD Brewery. You can catch buses to La Guama for a few dollars. You have to get a moto taxi to PANACAM, it's about 25 minutes each way and 200 L ($8) Each way. Get your taxi drivers number on whatsapp so that you don't end up stranded. People at the lodge can also call you a taxi and offer free wifi. Busses leaving La Guama end at 6 pm so plan accordingly or you'll pay a lot for a moto taxi or have to hitchhike.

Came here towards the late afternoon as we were doing a hike and wanted to see the sun setting from one of the various viewpoints on the trails. The hike itself was easy (we didn't do the one that is several kilometers). The waterfall was lovely.

If you can, also stay at the lodge onsite as there is literally no noise from modern society throughout the night - just nature at it's finest.

If you love nature, this is one of the best places to visit in Honduras.3 hours drive from Tegucigalpa, or 1.5 hours drive from San Pedro Sula. My suggestion is, you can stay at Panacam Lodge, or in the surroundings areas of Yojoa lake. Once you are in the park, there are short trails to enjoy a little waterfall near the visitor center, or if you are in good shape, you can take the long route...between 7-10 kilometers. Keep an eye out for birds, butterflies, some times you can see snakes, if you don´t like them, don´t touch them. Take your time to enjoy the park, if you want to recover some years, try to take a bath in the pristine waters coming down the mountain...I´m pretty sure your heart and body will be greatful...

This National Reserve is a very important part of the Lake Yojoa Basin. There is a lodge in the park - PANACAM lodge - that is administered by local non-profit organization.
If you are a birder this is one stop you should not miss. Get there early in the morning and you will get a lot of species. About 314 bird species have been reported here.
There is a nice restaurant and several cabins, small rooms, or you can bring your tent and set it up or your RV. Definitely a must see while in Honduras

Want to be submerged in the middle of nature? This is the perfect place to go. The trails can be as short or as long as you want them but you can still experience the greatness of Honduran nature. Be sure to keep an eye out for rare birds, non-venomous snakes, butterflies and gorgeous hidden rivers. You won't regret it!

Our family missions/vacation trip to Honduras was packed full of firsts and adventure. One of the top adventures was our day trip to the Parque Nacional Cerro Azul Member.

Our trip started from Taulabé on the CA5 and turned off on V905 - which is were the climb to the park started. After an amazing road trip up to the park we were met at the gate by 4 armed guards that checked us in and made sure we were there for the right reasons.

Our team of about 15, including my two girls, tackled the 5 mile hike through the rain forest. After about 5 hours and some amazing conversations we made it. Be aware that there is some major elevation change.

One thing we have noticed about Honduras was how amazingly well kept their park system is. Parque Nacional Cerro Azul Member is just one of many parks throughout Honduras and is a stark contrast to the rest of the land and conditions in Honduras.

Great place to visit. They have long and short hikes. The shortest hike ends at a nice waterfall and swimming area. It’s an easy walk to do with small kids. The restaurant is decent.

Cerro Azul Meámbar National Park or ‘PANACAM’ features three trails 0.3km, 0.7km and 7.0km. The park has waterfalls, creeks, lookouts over Lake Yojoa, tropical and cloud forest, and a variety of birds, plants, trees and flowers. The trails are well-marked and well-maintained. The trailhead is located at Panacam Lodge
(directions: turn off CA-5 at La Guama, headed up to Santa Elena and follow the many signs to the park). This is an excellent hike with hard to beat views. Highly recommend.

The trails are fairly well kept which made the booking fairly easy. The views of the Lago de Yojoa are great from the lookout towers and the trail to the waterfall is fairly short. We didn't stay at the cabins bit they seemed really well kept just like the restaurant.
