Bishnupur is THE place for temple nerds. The uniqueness of these temples of which this is the pinnacle is it represents a very different style of architecture unique to the state of Bengal. Amazing terracotta architecture. Well preserved. Best to be avoided during summer months. Every morning will be soothing. Use toto for travelling around.

The ShyamRai temple is one of the most beautifully decorated temples in Bishnupur. The finesses shown by the artists who have designed the walls of this temple is remarkable. This is another temple of Lord Radha Krishna which needs entry fee, same ticket for Raasmancha and JorBangla. Uniquness of this temple is its architecture...the 4 minarets in each corber and in between the main gumbad are built by taking designs from 4 different religions like Muslim, Jain, Bouddha, Hindu. When I visited this place in January it was pretty empty. The premises was well-maintained when I visited it with my family. There is a board at the entrance which tells the visitor a little about the history of this monument. There were people selling household things like Bankura's "gamcha" (towel) outside the premise. In the temple city of Bishnupur,various Kings of the erstwhile Malla dynasty had built various temples at different times,over centuries.
