The church is on the hill, which is very serene and calm. The area is covered with trees and its very silent away from the town. The architecture inside is beautiful! There are two ways to reach the church - one using the road and another using a walkable path. Preferably take the walkable path to enjoy the beauty of... More

This church is very historic. It is wonderfully located on top of Mariahilfsberg and overlooking the town of AMBERG. There seem to be monks living in the buildings adjacent to the church and there is a week long festival taking place in the forest around the church very soon, called BERGFEST with food stands and beer tents. The idea is... More

Beautiful church, spectacular views and wonderfully manicured trails through the surrounding woods. Truly lovely.

Such a beautiful Church. They also have outdoor seating where they conduct services. The church is also located by walking, biking and/or running trails. Definitely a place that the kids and pets would love; breathtaking view of Amberg from the top of the Church stairs.

This is a must do if you're in the Amberg city. It offers much history as the church was built during the Black Plague to offer refuge to the citizens of the city during this dark time in history.

This church is a pearl from the baroque time. You cannot miss the best view and if possible the beer party that happens in June.

Should visit when you are in the medieval town of Amberg. Afterwards enjoy the scenery with a good Bavarian beer at the adjacent restaurant

I normally prefer Romanesque and Gothic churches to Baroque churches as the latter are too decorative. But I was impressed in Amberg. Interior of some Baroque churches are in white colour. It appealed to me with elegance. Wallfahrskirche is one of them. What makes it unique is the climb over a hill. Not too far and too harsh. You will... More

We were brought up here by a local friend and it's not as huge as a lot of other churches but the work on the inside is beautiful. It's definitely worth the short trip up the hill.

Mariahilfberg church stands out in Amberg. It is worth a visit by car or a hike up the hill viewing some of the old villas along the way. Built as a promise when the Black Plague circumvented Amberg, it continues to be visited by all who come to Amberg. The architecture and paintings deserve your attention. Put a small coin... More
