Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The old town of Frascati is charming & well worth a visit. The cathedral is stunning & is surrounded by small streets filled with cafes & shops. Well worth staying in Frascati or visiting from Rome.

Our second visit in 42 years and it is still as tranquil and beautiful as then; AND it is the locals who keep it that way. This place has kept all the old traditions going; it still has small business flourishing in the narrow streets; not just a couple, but all the streets; and there are shoemakers, seamstresses , dressmakers, electricians, plumbers, sneaky little bars about as big as a stamp; all active and doing alright. Plenty of seats around the cutest little square you will ever see and even more, along the treed area fronting the Chateau, right slap bang in the centre of town. The Rail station is in the centre as well; 30 minutes from Rome; 3 euros each; if you come to Rome you just gotta see this place. Only please leave it the way that you found it; a relaxing " gusto" place.

Train, bus or rental car for a 39 mile trip to Frascati. A beautiful town with an old world charm worthy of the short journey from bustling Roma. Plan on many local restaurants where deliveries of fresh veggies, meats and fish arrive throughout the day.
Local wines & gelato (or sorbet for non dairy folks) - all are fresh and delicious. Ample recommendations available for tours, restaurants and BEST Ice cream choice on line OR easily the best site of course, TripAdvisor a one stop shop.

Visited Frascati in August. It is a very pretty town, with some lovely piazzas and a super relaxed at atmosphere.

We found it to be about three degrees cooler than Rome, given its elevated position, but it was still intensely hot.

There are a range of great places to eat, top end ristorante to local cucinas serving traditional Italian food.

There are numerous fine Gelateria located around the main squares and they serve more flavours than I previously thought possible.

Frascati has its own train station, which is only three stops to Rome Termini. One way adult ticket 2 euro. Just beware the train station isn't open on Sunday's, trains run but you will need to pre-buy tickets or buy them from a local bar next to the cinema.

A great base to see Rome from, whilst bring in the hills away from the hustle of the main city.

We visited the center of Frascati during our half-day tour with The Old Frascati Wine Tour and fell in love! The city center is small and quaint and the people are much friendlier than Rome. During our tour of the town we met local shop owners who remembered us when we came back after our tour in the late afternoon. Everyone treated us kindly and offered us lots of local specialties to try. We stayed in town for a few hours after our tour of the Old Frascati winery and had gelato in the main square of town and people watched until the sun set. This is exactly the type of town we were looking for as a nice day trip from Rome.

To avoid driving through Rome, Decided to stay in Frascati and travel into Rome by train, only 25 minutes away. Frascati is higher up than Rome and generally gets a breeze, and you can see Rome to the north. Frascati is a bustling little place with lots of cafe's and restaurants and Hotels. Cheaper than Rome and a great alternative. Street market held every first sunday of the month, worth a visit if you can get your timing right. Don't miss this Italian gem. If you arrie by train in Frascati, the centre is literally only two minutes from the station, but be warned you have to go up a few staircases.

This town has the best view of Rome, especially at dusk as the sun is setting. Vibrant, good food, shopping and famous and underestimated wine. Easy to reach. We discovered a website by chance (a brochure in out Rome hotel) with all sorts information that meant I could really explore properly. We took a tour to a winery (undecided between here and Tuscany, but Frascati is only 30 minutes away on the train, so we had a lay-in!) and the countryside was an unexpected oasis (red wines were fabulous too, at Principe Pallavicini, we took a taxi to get there)- a bit like a time warp! On the website (www.easyfrascati.com) we downloaded a discount pass and mp3 walking tour in perfect english. The pass gave us discounts to load of stuff so it paid itself back tenfold!(it cost me 10 euros and the mp3 download was free with it). We didn't go up to the ruins on Tusculum because we would have missed the train back, but next time (booked flights for Spring!), we will sleep over and take a mountain bike tour too.

We were based in the hotel Colonna for the week and each evening explored the town. Frascati is in the Alban hills, a short ride from Rome but totally unspoilt by tourism. All the restaurants serve local food and wine and are frequented by locals. There is a wine bar and a couple of cafes serving (good old English) tea and cakes. The views from the town are stunning, particularly at night, and you can see for miles. The town is quiet and packed with small shops serving the local inhabitants and stuffed with large and small eateries.

This is a very nice ancient city wellknown by the weeken/summer high society mansions and also by the white Frascati wine.
You can get the city in the morning by train, is just an 1 hour trip. Get around the city and the historic center, get something to eat, enjoy the views and then start you way back to Rome.
A highly recommended one day trip.
