passing through

a beautiful unspoilt area which I imagine would be very popular in the Summer, deserted when I went there in April.

Really nice especially on the left. We have walked for like 10min and found a nice spot with a little bit of sand and NOBODY. The water is perfectly clear and warm. You can find some sheep on your way :) really natural and clean. (To go in the sea we needed to go by some rocks)

Sea is incredibly beautiful. Different types of beaches to choose from, including rocks, sandy beaches, cobble stones etc. One is better than the other. A new free train service brings you to 3 different beaches and it is a rather frequent service (departure about every 30 minutes). So you can leave the car at a large parking area and choose... Beautiful beach, and very blue water.. You can enjoy the sound of the sea... no loud salesmen on the beach. Only thing is that there are a lot of palm tree leaves floating in the first three meter in the water and these can also be found in the beach. If you overlook this, the beach is perfect!

I have been several time to macari, I have been to the beach and the rock. despite the beach is comfortable, my preference is for the rocks. there it is less crowded and tends to get very quiet around 5:30/6:00 pm that in the summer is probably the best time of the day.

blue sea, rocks or sands encasted in a gorgeous frame by the surrounding montain. You park away from the beach and a little train transport close to the various coves---fantastic---non cars to clutterd the coast-A must see

Like most places I've visited, mass tourism and lack of proper infrastructure could make your trip not so pleasant. The little train service is useful but should be better organised. Finally, the sea was not so clean as I'd expect. Don't go in August, really.

The highlight for the kids was definitely the train on wheels that transported us within the nature reserve letting visitors get easy access to the smaller beaches. The main beach has loads of seaweeds and is relatively shallow. There is a small truck-restaurant with tables so you are not lost if hungry or thirsty. Been to more family friendly and... More

Much wilder and rough than the one in San Vito LoCapo it is though the best way to expereince the crystal clear waters of Western Sicily.
