Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

To reach the underground restaurant room you pass through the cellar, which is the prelude to a unique tasting experience. I was particularly enthusiastic about the fish, which, like in the film "Ratatoutuille", brought me back to memories of my childhood, moving me. You go underground, but instead of entering the Underworld, you go to Heaven. Perfect waiter, only regret was not being able to personally present compliments to the Chef. If it doesn't have one it should have Michelin stars. Ridiculously low price: including wine you spend less than a pizza and a beer in the cool places in Milan! I recommend taking menu n.2 or following.

Great experience, a place to see! The biggest winery in Balkans offers a great tour and extraordinary wines. The only problem we had was how to transport all the wines we bought there by plane :)

This is the oldest winery on Balkan Peninsula. Produces one of the greatest wines. You must try white wine Temjanika Special, rose Aleksandria Cuve and red Barovo. Has the best restaurants in this region of the country, it's 6 M under the ground with finest food and wonderful ambient.

Hidden in a small city between Skopje and Thessaloniki is an amazing winery and restaurant. The winery is not well marked, almost as if it were demure, but our host knew the way well. The winery is one of the finest I have ever visited, with spotless storage for the wine as it matures in barrels.
We entered an unmarked opening where inside we were greeted by a sign that announced “Tikveš 1885”. We descended two levels into the cool recesses of the establishment, unguided by anyone except our local host. Past the serried rows of barrels we found the restaurant, the very atmosphere spoke of confidence, refinement, and authority. The tables were set with table cloths and dishes already prepared for guests. A crackling fire offset the chill of the winery but even more so spoke of the refinement of the place.
I don’t know if our host made menu selections in advance, but as soon as we sat the waiter began serving the first wine, and courses began soon after. I have no idea what the first course was, but it was magnificent and complimented the dry white Tikveš Rkaceiteli wine perfectly. The display was continental in the finest traditions. The second course, I learned after some discussion of the translation from Macedonian, consisted of sea bream surrounded by gnocchi in a green sauce. This was accompanied by a second, more lush, white Bela Voda wine (RP94 if I understood correctly) of which the waiter seemed to be particularly proud.
The third course consisted of an exquisite pork tenderloin wrapped in a thin sesame seed crust. Cooked to perfection, I did not catch the name but secretly christened it “Pork Alexander the Great”. It was served with an extraordinary 2014 Tikveš “Alexandria”—a blend of 50 percent Vranec and 25 percent each of Merlot and Cabernet. This was a powerful, fruit-forward wine that reminded me of an expensive Napa Valley red blend.
By this time I was so blissed out I can barely remember the dessert course or the wine that accompanied it, or the locally-produced brandy that reminded me of an Armagnac.
Essentially the visit was an unparalleled pleasure with not only the happy discovery of wonderful wines but also one of the best meals I have ever eaten.
Reservations are required and I did not see any evidence of guided tours of the establishment.

Its one of the biggest wineries in Macedonia. We arrived without appointment. Place looks like a industrial factory from outside, security on the entrance. We told that we would like to visit a wine tasting. In 5 min young lady arrived and took us through the area to the restaurant. Place is huge. After security point we passed to already familiar in traditional style winery. It's really amazing: to go to the restaurant you almost go to the underground area like to the cave and all this specific smell makes you drunk already before tasting. Restaurant is very nice, has big fireplace, split on 2 levels. Waiters are very proud of their company, very polite, very kind, know a lot about their product. We selected few wines, were presented a huge plate with cheeses, meat, bread, some another delicatessens fro the wine. We were told that winery works with french enologist who helped them to create state of art wine. It's true. Some grapes i even don't know but this wine tastes wonderful. My favorite was Barovo. Winery won different awards and i believe it's for a right reason: it's a wine that can compete with many famous world known brands.

I was visiting family who live in Macedonia . On the border with Greece is a beautiful city called Kavadarci. Air in Kadavarci is continental with significant influence over the Aegean (hot summers). It is widely known by the Winery Tikvesh. In the vicinity of the Vardar River that by sitting next to her is breathtaking .

The Tikves Winery in Kavadarci, Republic of Macedonia produces some amazing wines...white, rose and red. All of them are excellent and each has a distinct taste. They are also very reasonably priced. I was given a tour by Aleksander Ristovski and his English is very good and his enthusiam for the wine and winery shines through on the tour. The dining/tasting room is beautiful and although I did not have lunch, another group did and it looked amazing. You need to contact the winery two days in advance for tours/tastings/food. Enjoy!

We stopped here for lunch while touring Macedonia. I would suggest calling ahead so they can accommodate you. They let us in. The three course lunch with three different wines was excellent. Service was very good; both food and wine were different but in a good way. Remember, the tasting room is a least a two hundred meter walk underground. No matter what season, after twenty minutes, you will regret leaving that little sweater in the car. Use latitude and longitude on your gps to find it. Even then it is difficult to spot. Well worth the effort. Their red wines are amoung the two best made in Macedonia
