About
At the time of creation, the Victoria Golf Course was hailed as the most ambitious golf project Portugal had ever witnessed. Designed by true golfing legend, Arnold Palmer, there is absolutely no doubt that it has lived up to that lofty billing. Covering some 90 hectares, the venue encompasses one of the most complete golf complexes in Europe, and features an exceptional driving range and a putting green of some 2,500 m2. All of this has made it the obvious venue of choice for many of the top international tournaments to visit Portugal in recent times. Indeed, it has served as the host venue to the Portugal Masters on every occasion since 2007, while the World Cup Championship was staged there in 2005. The Par-72 Championship layout, measuring 6.651 meters (7,273 yards) from the Palmer tees, incorporates and has ensured the preservation of natural wetlands on-site, as well as the typical vegetation of carob, olive and almond trees. A significant proportion of Victoria’s acreage is o

The course is apparently about to close for major refurbishment and some redesign so let me start by saying that it isn't currently in the best 'cosmetic' condition. That said, this remains an excellent course. Tees, fairways and greens were all perfectly fine, even if it looks a little rough around the edges.
I'd happily play here anytime, and would thoroughly recommend a visit. If you play well, you'll score well. If not, you won't. That's how a good course should be. I hope the design changes retain the majority of the current set-up. It would be a mistake to change this challenging, but very enjoyable course.

Course was in good condition, but being paired with non-handicap player (12yrs old!) detracted from our day. Her father, who was a decent golfer advised this was only her 2nd time playing 18 holes, and he would be using the round to teach her more about different shots and etiquette. They were both very pleasant, but the starter should have acted when he saw the girl's first 3 tee shots (2 air shots, followed by a 15 yard top).

Apart from that, the fairways and greens were in good condition following some recent storms, but most of the bunkers were GUR. I am sure they will get those back in order shortly.

Played the course in early January 2023. Not as scenic as I thought but the course conditions were good. Staff at the pro-shop were helpful and friendly. The back 9 is more interesting than the front in my opinion. In January it isn't busy so played as a single and despite a few groups ahead of me the pace was good and finished at about 4 hours.
The restaurant was good and I thought the early lunch we had was of good value as well.

Overall if you get the winter rate I thought it was decent value and would play it again.

Some of the staff were grumpy and seemed disinterested. The food was pretty over priced considering I have definitely had better McDonald’s burgers

Finally got around to using our complementary vouchers for DPV golf course and what a great day. Walked the course twice marshalling and attending the Portuguese Masters but got to play it today. Really enjoyable, helped by some good golf…7 pars, well, good for me. Excellent staff, even after a buggy dead battery on the 16th, and not a spot of rain. Course in good shape, if a little wet, but thoroughly good day. €82 low/€120+ high which might tempt us back in low season, but add another €40 the buggy, and it starts to get expensive. Anyway all positive and good luck to course and staff for 2023!

Absolute fantastic long challenging friendly golf course. Nice club shop modern buggy with digital gps Course layout. The screen shows yardage/meters, tells you when speeding or driving too close to the greens. The pace of play was great . Condition all round great , I’m a steady golfer and found the greens excellent to putt on . It was expensive but you have to pay for quality and it certainly was.

Nice championship standard course, set around a lake. Some stunning holes. Course in good condition - greens were true and cut quite long - downhill puts will not gain momentum, and deviate little.

Shame about all the divots left by high handicappers who have no idea of the rules of golf. For example AVOID SLOW PLAY AT ALL TIMES - they must have misread that to play as slow as possibly at all times. Waiting on every shot gets old, fast. And they didn't repair divots on the lovely greens, in the unlikely event they actually hit one.

Its best for low handicappers who will enjoy the challenge. High handicappers will be better off playing one of the other courses in the area. Posh locker rooms. Very slow pace of play. Nice staff and well organised. Expensive.

This golf course is stunning. Lovely features and a really testing course. Game head has to be on or will find yourself in trouble. Superb maintained and very nice clubhouse. Rated the number 1 of the 4 we played without doubt.

The Victoria is a fabulous layout with a lovely clubhouse and practice area.
As we live in Vale do Lobo we try and get over to the Vilamoura courses a few times a year and we chose today for our family trip.
The course was in its usual immaculate condition and the greens were rolling nicely if a little slow.

The experience was however completely spoiled by a group of 5 Portuguese golfers in the group ahead of us. They clearly had not shown a handicap certificate as not one of them could hit the ball in the air or further than 50 yards. No problem for us as long as they let us through. After playing the 4th hole we politely asked if we could play through and they said no. We then asked the ranger to ask them to speed up and they did for 3 holes.
We got through 9 holes in 2 hours 15 minutes which may seem ok to some but we had deliberately booked an early time to get round in under 4 hours and preferably in 3 and a half hours.
On the 11th tee we had the ranger with us and the group in front. They drove their buggy onto the ladies tee and he said nothing to them. We explained that they had no idea what they were doing and that they should let us through.
This is where our biggest issue came as the ranger simply said 'they have played 9 holes in 2hours and 15 and so they are fine'. He didn't care that they were slowing hacking up the tees with huge divots, driving buggies through tees and the fringes around the greens.

Everyone plays a different speeds which is fine if the simple task of letting through people is applied. The ranger was frankly very rude and in all honesty just no good at his job which is to ensure people behove properly and play at a decent pace - he did neither.

A shame as what should have been a lovely morning ended up with us skipping the 11th hole and still taking 4 hours 15 minutes. The group we drove past were on the 18th tee as we drove out at 1.10pm having started at 8.40am.......

We knew that the Portuguese Masters was on while we were on holiday in Vilamoura and liking watching golf we booked tickets, very cheap 21 euro each for the last day , take note UK, so a 10 min taxi ride we were there.
The organisation was good the course looked excellent and it was all good for the crowd size, a few thousand I believe, it must be a major task for 50000 in a big major. So we enjoyed the experience my only gripe would be the ticket queue system for food from the vendors not well signed what to do or where to get tickets from so we never ate ! I was in the queue then found that all the queue had tickets I had to leave. (otherwise a 5 star review)

Overall Good we got fed later.
