it is the main old arch into the Plaza Mayor which looks much better from the other side going into the Plaza. It's hardly a must on a visit but you are very likely to end up going though it at least once if not...More

Over looks the Plaza Mayor , which is not so impressive , the archway leads to the old town. Sorry we missed buying tickets for the city walls which we would have liked to go on.

Maybe not so special, the Arco itself, but still interesting due to the angle of the passage, that would allow carriages to go through. But it leads into a very nice old town - (see "Old town of Cáceres)

If you have a time machine, this is it. You walk under the Arches and you are in the Old Town of Caceres, it seems to be a different world than the Plaza Mayor. So Beaitiful, so Quiet....

Just off plaza mayor this archway leads to the old town with all its narrow streets and alley way's. Before going into old town stop at the top of the steps and turn left. You can buy tickets for €2.50 That will allow you to...More

When asking how to get to the old town, the response was, "Go through the archway across the Plaza Mayor. Those directions are perfect. It is a fitting transition from the new to the old and back again.

This is the archway you go under when you leave the Plaza Mayor to go into the old town of Caceres. Just like anything in Caceres, my advice is to always look back when you pass by any monument or building or church or anything!...More

Lovely historic entrance, with the wall and the stairs. Even if they are filming one of the many movies made in town, you will be able to see and visit this site.

The difference in b uilding age either side of this entrance to the old town is mind blowing. The Plaza Major has old Spanish building but transiting through the arch you travel back to the middle ages. Amazing
