We visited the Australian War Memorial on a summers day soon after the 100th Anniversay of the battle of the Somme. My grandfather fought at Pozires and so it was a very moving experience to be here to honour his sacrifice.

A very moving place to visit, when you walk up to wards the memorial through the cemetery you read some of the headstones of the people who gave their lives for our freedom. They are currently building more amenities ( toilets) and a new museum at the back of the memorial, it will be called the sir john Monash interpretive... More

My wife and I visited here not really knowing what to expect. The memorial is a fitting tribute, and there are a couple of panels of information which explain the site, the fighting around V-B and the broader context of the Western Front. Make sure you walk up the stairs to the view from the top of the memorial, looking... More

Visited the Australian war memorial on a very cold day in October and was amazed how they survived in the conditions they were subjected to during WW1. A very fitting and beautiful memorial for those who lost their lives fighting for our country. The grounds are a very moving tribute and is a must see if you travel to this... More

I didn't think of coming here, it was another couple in our group that suggested it. Glad they did. Worth a look, but there is no public transport to or from here. We had to walk from the small town Amiens. There are tour guides around this area as there are a number of war memorials.

Well maintained and a stunning memorial to honor the lives of those who sacrificed their own. A must see for anyone from a Commonwealth country

As an Australian with a grandfather that fought and was injured during the First World War here at Fromelles I wanted to come to this memorial to pay my respects to the fallen. It is quite a beautiful memorial and very well maintained. We climbed to the top of the tower to see the view over the valley. This part... More

This is must see if you are in the area. The memorial and cemetery are beautifully and tastefully set out, with an almost 360 degree view of the surrounding fields, many of which were battle fields 100 years ago (and, sadly, again in the second world war). To see the French and Australian flags flying together in honour of the... More

Beautifully kept with such a reverence and respect. It is so peaceful to walk around the grounds with a heart of gratitude for all those buried there.

Have been waiting to visit this place for 10 years. Now I have and it was truly worth the wait. This memorial is in a stunning location overlooking a valley. A somber and challenging place
