The Tourist Information is located in the city center by the bus station. Alta - the City of the Northern Lights - where past meets future! Rock carvings created 10,000 years ago tell the history of our cultural past. Today, export and technology, entrepreneurs and the service industry leave their mark for the future. Really helpful people. The facility is very small...but the staff big on knowledge and help. I suggest taking a visit here as the attractions in Alta are not advertised or promoted and some of the best sites are easily accessible using public transport IF you...More

Visited Alta as art of a Northern Lights Cruise. Shuttle bus dropped us off near the tourist information office and shopping centre. The staff were very helpful and Wi-Fi was available here too.

We have been there to know where to buy a norwegian pullover and the guy at the desk gave us a good adress. We left our rest of camping gaz there so the next traveller could get it and it was no problem. The man...More

Popped in here on our recent cruise to Alta. It was Sunday afternoon but they were open. Amazing. Gave good information especially about the impending finish of a dog sledding competition. Great to go and watch

The staff at the office were very helpful in suggesting what we can do given the inclement weather conditions, suggesting some activities for the kids, which we took on and would not do it any other way.
