Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Firstly, please note that the Mill is currently not open, however, the gate was open, and so.......myself and a work colleague had a peruse round the outside.
Plenty to see - from the pheasants, rabbits and geese....to the etchings of all the cast and crews’ autographs (along the side of the mill) from the film ‘The Eagle has Landed’ (I did, in fact, locate Treat Williams’).
At the rear, great view across the river, and one can see the weir.
Fantastic day - and the best things in life are free (peace, tranquility, great weather and scenery. Plus so many charming locals).
Ruddy marvellous. Back of the net 👍

Mapledurham, per se, retains a lesser known ‘fame and iconography’ for being the primary filming location for the film ‘The Eagle has Landed’.
Both the Watermill and Church host several vital scenes in the film.
The Watermill is currently closed to the public, but a gent who was working in the adjacent House, very kindly, allowed me in via the gates for 15 minutes or so.
It’s very picturesque and peaceful, and well worth a visit.

Picturesque water mill down a inlet of the thames. You can now only visit on selected days or view it from behind a locked gate. You can also get up close if you in a canoe. Lovely area peaceful and atmospheric.

Used on the cover of the first Black Sabbath album. It is very picturesque but also quite spooky. The Church and the graveyard next to it sets the seen.

Disappointed we could not walk around this beautiful place as our research on the web site did not disclose this, it is only open for private events
