A stunning monastery situated in an equally stunning traditional Cypriot village. The church and its icons are of great historical importance. The friendly priest gave us a very informative talk on the history of the monastery.

This is a place of Christian worship and is also a very secret place with Unesco protected frescos on the walls. You can visit even if you are agnostic however please remember that monks are still active and so dress modestly.

We visited the monastery during the first day, a monk talked us through the history of it. Also went to the museum next door, worth a visit.

Very nice monastery made better by the thoughtful and helpful priest that is pleased to converse and provide knowledge. A nice icon museum, next door with a quiet and shaded creek setting to relax and view an old stone bridge.
