Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Macedonia has many ancient archaeological sites and this one in Stobi is one of the best preserved. If you are traveling around Macedonia, this is definitely an attraction that you should not miss.
On our visit, the cashier charged us MKD 720 for four people, but gave me a ticket for free entry. When I threatened to report her, she returned the money. So we had free entry (even though we weren't entitled to it). I later informed the administration about the incident.

Just off the motorway, the ruined city of Stobi is well worth an hour of your time. Well preserved mosaics and various Roman buildings with much more to be excavated.
No refreshments on sale when we visited, which seemed to be missing a trick.

Go to this place!!! It’s amazing! We paid a taxi driver to drive us out there, wait for us and then return us. Back to Skopje. $90. Worth every penny! Don’t kiss the mosaics. They are on the top of the hill under the covered area. So amazing! Entrance fee was about $3.

This is the largest archaeological site in North Macedonia and became the capital of the Roman province. Well preserved buildings and amazing mosaics in some places; be sure to have a guide to bring it to life

For lovers of antiquity, you will be thrilled to see these ruins. Certainly the remains of early Christian churches provide a look into the past and how sites such as this contributed to the faith’s spread across the continent. Be advised, download the audio guide BEFORE arriving at the site unless you have local coverage.

We had a wonderful tour, with our guide being friendly and well informed. Excellent English. Large and diverse site, with an Isis temple, houses, an amphitheater, a basilica, baptistery, and even a synagogue. Built and abandoned by the Romans, this is one of the best such sites in North Macedonia. Clean toilet.

I love all of the marble and beautiful mosaics in the church, palace and the homes.

The basilica main floor and the baptismal flooring is gorgeous. The small marble detailing is incredible.

The site is a decent size and an ongoing project. Lots of great lookouts for photos.

We could have easily spent a few hours here and the price of entry is quite reasonable.

I highly recommend this tour. The ruins of the houses tell you quite a lot about life inside the walls, and the guides are very knowledgeable and helpful. It's really a hidden (and maybe underfunded?) gem of history in North Macedonia.

Never realized how many archeological sites there are here and this one is the most famous in Macedonia and about 15 km from the town of Kavadarci. It contains 26 buildings, a synagogue, palaces, houses and bath houses for men and women, a theatre and even a casino where supposedly a priest lived at one time. To date, it’s only been excavated 20% and it’s amazing already. I can imagine how its going to look like 10 years from now. It’s definitely worth the trip here. Make sure you get a tour guide to explain the history of this amazing ruin. There is a tiny tiny gift shop with a few items.
