Wine Your Way to Bass River
Aug. 2019
On a trip to the Bass Coast, I popped in to this family owned and run winery in the hope of a quick tasting and some good buys to take home. I was well rewarded.
Winding my way down the gravel driveway, past the ponds with families of ducks, I arrive in front of an old brick home and the Cellar Door located right next to it. An older woman slowly makes her way over, she looked a little like she thought I could be wasting her time. She was well rewarded. I tasted a number of their wines, all of them were excellent and I left with half a dozen of a selection that I was excited to be taking home to share with family and friends. And that's exactly what I did over the next couple of weeks. What I noticed most was that the wine was just as good, in some instances, better, than when I'd visited for the tasting. I've got to get back there for more. The wines here are truly high quality at very good prices. Pop in next time your on your way to Philip Island or Inverloch.

Not a very friendly or inviting place. The wine isn’t bad. We bought two bottles and still had to pay for the tasting.

Go to Purple hen instead.

Stopped by here on the way to Phillip Island. Beautiful views and the lady owner is very welcoming. Purchased a bottle of shiraz; tastes good.

Customer service wasn't great
May 2017
We stopped in on our way down to Phillip island. Rosa was behind the bar. She made no recommendations as to what we wanted to try, and didn't seem all that interested in selling us some wine. We didn't know what we wanted to try and had some trouble choosing, given the sign indicating that we could only try 5 wines.

Nonetheless the wines are beautiful and we bought a bottle of the Syrah and the Ice wine to have that evening.

Most disappointingly, the tasting fee was not refunded with purchase. I understand the reason for a fee but I understand industry standard is this is not charged when the customer walks away with several bottles.

Nice place

Very nice small cool climate winery. Clean well presented facility with sincere people and great wines.
Always love coming to this location when passing by. Sets the bench mark for presenting a genuine product in a pleasant manner.
Highly recommend a visit.

Have been here twice now. Purchased 2013 Cab Sauv each time. Lovely. The extra virgin olive oil (and the preserved olives as well) are absolutely first rate. They have an Olive grove onsite as well.
I would definitely drop by and say hello and have a tasting. I think the Matriarch of the family served me both times and she is a wonderful, friendly, humble, Italian Australian.
This Family run business is the real deal.
On a food and wine sojourn across South Gippsland, this place is a must!
