We were on our way to Lakes Entrance when we saw the brown tourist sign saying "Darnum Musical Village". So we decided to check it out. And we were so glad we did! It was amazing - all sort of musical instruments, and they actually allow you to play on them.
There were different varieties of pianos and organs, a very impressive collection. Some gramophone were on display.
There is an entrance fee of $9.90 per person for adult. There is a tour guide to show you around the whole place, while explaining and demonstrating the musical instruments. Well worth the fee I reckon!

In the middle of wonderful countryside in Gippsland, is the Darnum Musical Village. We had a great two or so hours there, with a wonderful and knowledgeable guide to show us through the village. It is home to many amazing older instruments, mostly keyboard based - organs, pianos (many amazing varieties), and other older keyboard style instruments, as well as accordions, flutes and even a Stradivarius saw, which our guide played!
There are often recitals at the village, although the day we went there was not one on, but they were setting up for one a day or so ahead. The village has three main areas, including an old church which was moved there, and into which they have installed a very old pipe organ. The workshop was really fascinating, to see the insides of many of the instruments, and to get an idea of how they worked. I'd also recommend a look at the book that they sell, " Magic with Music", by Albert Fox, owner of the Village. It is a wonderful and insightful story into his life.
Thoroughly recommended if you have any interest in music, for a fascinating morning or afternoon visit, a little over an hour from Melbourne.

We went in a group from Probus and found it to be so interesting to see all the different musical instruments and explained so well by Albert and his team. We had lunch and entertainment included in our trip which was great.
It was well worth the drive to get there and was a great day.

Today, along with a bus full of others, we had the pleasure of enjoying this magical place.
The knowledge of musical instruments by our guide, was fantastic.
After a nice lunch of soup and sandwiches, we were entertained by Sue and Collin. Sue's voice at one stage brought tears to my eyes and a few others.
A truely great day was had. Thank you Albert, Sue and Colin we all throughly enjoyed our time with you

I stopped in after seeing the signs on the highway with no idea what to expect. I had my three daughters aged 4/7/10 with me.
We went in and decided to pay for the tour of the three buildings which was $27 for the family.
A young girl showed us around she was very knowledgable and taught us a lot.
If you're musically inclined you would get more out of this for sure but even as something a little different it was a nice visit.
Seeing and hearing the different sounds from some very old pianos and organs was good. The girls were particularly intrigued by the pipe organ in the church.

We were driving home from the Gippsland lakes and decided to randomly follow the signs to the Musical Village. Not knowing what to expect we walked into the Village and were mesmerized from the very beginning. Our lovely tour guide took us on a fascinating walk and we even got to experience the instruments - some of which we had never heard of. Truly intriguing. Even as a non-musician I found this most interesting and would highly recommend a visit. The icing on the cake was when we met the charming Mr Albert Fox himself. Such an inspirational man. We would definitely come again!

Did a tour today with my father, a very vast collection of Pianos and Organs from around the world, not musically inclined myself but found it a very interesting place to visit and wouldn't hesitate to return with other guests and view again. The young lady that took us around was well informed and very pleasant.

Music is not my thing but my friend loves it and I took my two kids who also really enjoyed it. Mainly pianos and organs but a few other interesting instruments as well are on display. We had a young girl serve us and there was no issues with the kids having a tinker on any of the displays. Nice yard outside to relax and some great views also are on offer.

The owner's daughter gave us an excellent and personal tour ,tailored to our young son, and very reasonably allowed him to try the instruments, as she saw fit. Very large display.
