About
Lake Escapades offers canoes, kayaks, stand-up paddle boards (SUPs) and powered runabouts for hire from our base on the shores of Lake Cootharaba at Boreen Point on Queensland's Sunshine Coast. We specialise in day and overnight self-guided hires for the Noosa Everglades as well as a range of short-medium distance Paddle’n Picnic exploration hires on and around Lake Cootharaba including family-friendly routes through ancient creeks and to private lakefront beaches and elusive hiking trails. We keep the cost down by making these self-guided with BYO food and drink, though all hires are fully inclusive with everything else you need ... including canoe or kayak hire, safety gear, instruction, detailed briefings and maps. All you need to do is get yourself to Boreen Point - about a 20 minute drive from Noosa via Tewantin, or from Cooroy or Pomona - and we'll do the rest.

Booked a 3 person canoe for a half day, so spent about 5 hours on the water with a couple of stops at Kinaba & Harry's Hut. Rob was knowledgeable about all conditions & the safety talk was easy to digest. Was waiting for us at Kinaba on our return for water taxi back to Elanda. Rates are competitive, definitely recommend Lake Escapades for your canoe or kayak trip, probably advise a full day so the pace is easier & more time to look around.

Finally I can tick off one of my bucket lists! Noosa Everglades is a must do. So beautiful and serene. We visited on 17/1/20 even though rain was forecasted. It was easy communicating with Rob via sms and email. He was very thorough briefing us pre-departure and we felt assured that we could contact him at all times and there was a gps tracker. We are novices at boats but we managed to spend a day out in the water even through rain and storm on our way across Lake Cootharaba! It was quite an adventure.
Finally, after having been there and done that, I can confidently say that there was no way I could even make it across the Lake (and I’m relatively fit) It takes 45mins by power boat and possibly 2hrs by kayak. There was a bit of wind that day. On the return journey through the high winds, low visibility and pouring rain, it would have been impossible on the kayak.
Certainly consider the power boat option, especially if you are a group as it’s amazing value $160 for whole day hire. You can spend more time to do walks, swim and chill.
Thank you Rob! it was so good to see you and the flags!

Robert from Lake Escapades ensured our 2 night 3 day canoe trip was safe and well planned. Harry’s Hut Campground was a lovely place for our 2 night camp. The first few hours of our canoeing from Elanda Point to the Information Centre was a bit rough going but added to the excitement. Robert’s briefing at the start was essential and extremely informative in finding our way to Harry’s Campground. Robert kept contact with us throughout the trip to ensure our safety and due to rough weather organised to pick us up by 4WD instead of water taxi on the last leg of the trip.I can’t recommend this company highly enough. This trip is a must do for people who love the outdoors.

A group of 10 of us hired canoes from Rob at Lake Escapades in early December. From the moment we contacted Rob he made the whole process of planning a 5 day paddle on upper Noosa River a breeze. He helped us plan our itinerary, giving great suggestions of where to camp and what to do/bring. Canoe pick up and drop off was hassle free and easy. All the equipment (including Canoes and camp gear) was immaculate and in great conditions. The canoes were all good to paddle and our group of friends had a blast.
Rob, Thank you very much for going above and beyond to make our trip soo good!

Fantastic experience. Booking process made incredibly easy through Rob - and meet up and briefing likewise effortless on the day. Rob made us comfortable that we knew where we were going with a thorough briefing, supplied all the gear we required and checked in with us throughout the trip.
We really enjoyed our time on the river, it no was beautiful. We chose an overnight option and were glad we did, as the tranquility the next morning at the campsite we had to ourselves was lovely.
Wouldn't hesitate to recommend the trip and Rob to anyone looking for something to do in the area.

What an adventure. After browsing the easy to read Lakes Escapades website, we decided to hire the Powered Runabout to explore the Everglades. All the information I needed was right on the website and all I had to do was make contact with Robert.
Robert was just amazing. We were in contact via email originally and later by text. We wanted an early start and Robert was very accommodating. We had to make a slight change to our departure time afterwards and this was communicated very clearly.
On the day of our trip, we were very excited but extremely nervous at the same time as Marina and I had never skippered a vessel before. Step in Robert.
Robert had this very calming effect on us. Very thorough and patient and kind. Robert took his time and went through everything. A signature and a quick payment after a detailed briefing and next thing we were on our way armed with a sheet of instructions.
What an amazing day. At our own pace all the way to camp site 3. A picnic and encounter with 2 iguanas all just part of the day. On two occasions we drifted off course due to excitement but there was Robert via text message and a calming voice on the phone putting us back on track. Thank goodness for the gps tracking device attached to the Runabout.
A definite must do. We learnt so much and thoroughly enjoyed our day. An experienced never to be forgotten. Robert thank you for this amazing experience.

Had a great day trip on single Kayaks. Weather was a bit hairy but Rob was fantastic in giving us advice, checking in and sending through weather updates.
Great communication and instructions. We'll worth the trip :). Thanks Rob

Must do in Noosa! Rob was so helpful with sorting out all of our camping gear and canoe hire before the trip. We did the 2D/1N package which was fabulous and just the right amount of time for us as you have a choice of campsites, the one we chose we had all to ourselves! Great value for money and organised very well. Couldn't recommend more...

We were keen to explore the everglades area and we are ever so pleased we took this option. Rob is fantastic and provided great communication and answered a number of questions before we even made our booking. But to have our own little boat for the day on the water that we could slowly explore with our picnic lunch was just sensational.
The boat is really well kitted out, the maps and directions excellent and we had a brilliant day. The Everglades are just stunning, I cannot recommend this highly enough.

Friendly and helpful contact with perfect equipment for the trip in the Noosa river system. Even though I was the only early morning starter, Rob offered me tons of hints and information.
Had an amazing day on the lake and a good chat with Rob. If you are worried about Covid-Safety, Rob is well aware of it and has a CovidSafe Plan.
I am looking forward to my next excursion on the lake!

Hi,
I was wondering how long it usually takes to Canoe from Boreen point to the everglades? Or how long it takes to explore the evergaldes if we take the water taxi? Or how long the water taxi takes?
We would have an almost 4 year old with us... has anyone done it with a young family?
Written 9 February 2019
Hi Bella, firstly please excuse the delay in replying, we didnt know about your posted question. It's common for customers to take their young family with them when exploring the Noosa Everglades. If the kids are too young to contribute to the paddling effort we would suggest they go with you in one of our large canoes, catering for two parents plus up to two kids. If you had more than two kids we'd suggest you take one of our powered runabouts instead of going by canoe. Most paddling trips take a full day, though you do paddle at your own pace following our recommended route of varying this to suit you and returning any time you wish. Most people who do the full route will finish around 3-4pm. WE don't normally launch paddlers from Boreen Point, instead we can reduce the distance and paddling time across Lake Cootharaba by launching you at the public canoe ramp at Elanda Point. The lake crossing then only takes about 75 mins with an opportunity to make shore and rest at about the half-way point. Once the lake crossing is complete and you reach the Kinaba Information Centre, paddling time through the Everglades to our recommended turnaround point is about 90 mins. Allowing for stops, rest breaks, lunch and perhaps a short bush walk, plus the paddle back to your starting point, you should set aside an whole day for discovering the Everglades by canoe or kayak. Our water taxi service takes around 25 mins to cross Lake Cootharaba and normally departs from and returns to Boreen Point, as an alternative to crossing by paddling.

Hi there. I was just wondering if Lake Escapades is a camping site or resort at Lake Cootharaba. I'm looking for somewhere cheap but comfortable to stay for my partner and our daughter for a weekend. Preferably the 23 February- 25 February. I haven't been here since I was a kid and that was roughly 35 years ago.
Cheers Ally

Lake Escapades offers canoes, kayaks and runabouts for hire on Lake Cootharaba, specialising in day and over-night self-guided tours to the Noosa Everglades. There are designated camp grounds at Boreen Point and Elanda Point, both on the shores of the lake, and there are about 8 river-side camp grounds on the upper Noosa River. An easy Google search will find you lots of information about all of these. The most convenient would be the council-owned camp ground at Boreen Point - If I can be of any more help feel free to contact us via our website. Cheers, Robert
