About
Tarra-Bulga National Park in South Gippsland is well known for its giant Mountain Ash trees, beautiful fern gullies and ancient myrtle beeches. Hidden within the Strzelecki Ranges, Tarra-Bulga National Park features lush fern-filled gullies, giant Mountain Ash and ancient Myrtle Beech. Visitors have long enjoyed strolling along one of the nature walks or picnicking beside a shady fern-lined creek. Walk to the impressive Corrigan’s Suspension Bridge, which stretches through the rainforest canopy, affording spectacular views of the lush fern gully on the forest floor below. Or picnic in a delightful setting, with three picnic areas; at the Visitor Information Centre, TarraValley and Bulga. Camping is not permitted within the park. Tarra-Bulga National Park is approximately 200 kilometres east of Melbourne. The park is reached from the Princes Highway at Traralgon by following Traralgon Creek Road to Balook. Alternatively the park can be reached from Yarram via the Tarra Valley Road or Bulga Park Road. Roads throughout the area are narrow and winding but offer marvellous scenery with panoramic views from several points, including Mount Tassie.

Driving north into the Tarra Bulga National Park was amazing. The day were drove was one day after some wild and windy weather that had made quote a mess of the roads, with a very large tree across the road in one place - fortunately it had been cut to allow cars to pass.
We saw only one other car on the road the whole trip! The highlight was the Tarra Valley walk where were took the short (~30 mins) circular track to take in the Cyathea Falls. The weather was atmospheric and it suited the rainforest perfectly.

Easy to get to from Melbourne in any vehicle, as part of the Strezlecki Ranges, Tarra-Bulga National Park is somewhere that all families should take the time to visit!
The Corrigan Suspension Bridge is the highlight of the walking tracks. We found the tracks were in great condition, it had rained just the day prior to our visit, but the paths were safe and not muddy at all.
Walking like any bushwalking gets your heart rate up as you navigate up and down. There are steps in various sections, so walking is only suited to able bodied people, but you certainly don’t need to be marathon fit to get around the place.
Get out amongst it I say!

A must visit after Wilson's prom - spectacular rainforest and good walks. Plan ahead as the local signage is crap - we were looking for the suspension bridge MUST do but got confused. We stopped at the carpark too early and the bridge carpark was another 500 m up the road. Note there are two access points for the bridge - take the easy route and park at the lower carpark otherwise its a steep climb back.
The road up is a bit hairy but part of the enjoyment

Beautiful scenery and a great walk down to the suspension bridge. We had a 3 year old with us, and it was a bit lengthy for him, but overall it was not a difficult walk down to the suspension bridge which was worth the visit. Toilets on site near the visitors centre that was also open and had some information about the history of the area.

Amazing place to visit. Plenty of different walking tracks through the rainforest. So beautiful and green.
The suspension bridge is amazing and must see. Toilets are at info area. There are seats randomly place along the tracks.
Can't wait to come back to visit

Tarra-Bulga National Park boasts over 2000 hectares of flora and fauna. You can hear the lyrebirds sing as you wind through the different walks, ranging in grade and distance.
We visited for the first time today and were blown away by the size and beauty of the park. The walks we did were very accessible and easy. There are more challenging walks available- we just didn’t have the time! Next time!

Came here on a warm day to walk in the shade of the rainforest walks and it was a wonderful day out. The vegetation is amazing and lots of wildlife around including skinks, snakes and birds. The suspension bridge and waterfalls were real highlights. Just wish the visitor centre was open during the week for school holidays.

Enjoyed an easy and beautiful walk via the suspension bridge trail today. It was raining steadily but not too cold. It was magical to view the huge frond crowns of the tree ferns from above and then underneath as the trail snaked through the valley. We walked slowly and silently to notice the incredible array of moss and fern that layers up all available trunks. Looking up at the canopy with the raindrops falling and the gentle sound of the stream brought me peace. Looking forward to a winter walk when the funghi is also on display. Enjoyed Danish open sandwiches at the guesthouse cafe in Balook.

First time visiting and we arrived into the visitor centre car park to start our walks.
The visitor centre has some great info boards on local history and wildlife.
The walks from the car park are a series of loops that you can either choose or skip to extend your walk.
The walls are easy and beautiful.
Be sure to pack something warm as it does stay cool in this spot.

Tried to find the park from the Grand Ridge Road ( coming from the west ) but could not find one sign to show where the park was . Travelled over 100 K in bad weather on slipper narrow tracks.
