Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We had a great time visiting Adam’s distillery on the way to Cradle Mountain from the east coast. Adam kindly agreed to do a last minute tour of their distillery and we were able to see first hand the process of creating lavender and blueberry infused gin! We also saw the cooperage on site which is how the barrels are created. Adam was welcoming and very genuine. The experience felt authentic, informative and a lot of fun. The tastings afterwards were great and led to my boyfriend buying a bottle of the cask strength whisky and myself a bottle of the sloe berry barrel aged gin. Would definitely recommend stopping in!

Met some of the team at a Gin event earlier in this year. Great gin. Great local knowledge by the team. Have definitely added Adam's to list of places to visit next time i'm back in Tassie!

The Gins and Whiskies these guys are distilling are really quite wonderful. A well thought out tasting room, would highly recommend.
We were a little too early for the bottling of the Whisky - the slightly peated Sherry cask dram I tasted stands up to some of the better Scotches I have had, however we took a great bottle of Gin home with us instead. Not sure where the mysogynistic allegations come from, Adam was a really nice guy!

As a lover of local gins and a supporter of boutique industry I was excited to visit Adams distillery. The gin was fair and the single malt scotch unexpectedly good but the company was like a visit to the good old 1950s complete with a schooling on the woes of the world. These seem to centre around the the ineptitude of today’s youth, the inadequacies of women and the importance of the owners contribution to the world. So if your a misogynist by all means visit but sadly I won’t be going back.

I am sorry that you did not enjoy your visit to Adams. I was not there, and did not hear the conversation you are referring too with one of our owners. It sounds like you had a difference of opinion about the topics of conversation. It’s the beauty of our free country, people can have those differences and we do not need to like or agree with them, but everyone is free to express them.
All I can say is, we make fantastic products and hope that people judge us on those.
I do hope you change your mind and revist us.

We've developed an interest in gin since cutting down on carbs (gin has zero!) and spent a very pleasant Sunday at Adams Distillery, Glen Ireh Estate, 17km from Launceston. Warmly greeted by “big” Adam (two of the partners are Adams) we were treated to a very informative chat about their impressive facility whilst sampling some of their production.
The enterprise has grown rapidly, branched experimentally into beer and is in the process of growing their own barley which they hope will go into future spirit production. Being local, we'll watch them with interest and recommend their gin if you see it around, as well as eagerly awaiting the release of their whiskey.
Well worth a visit if you're in Northern Tasmania, are interested in local gin / whiskey production or just want to meet craft producers passionate about what they do. The cellar door is only open on Sundays at the moment but they have plans to expand this as well – check Facebook.

I love visiting a local distillery or vineyard. I love the road trip there with friends and family. I love meeting local producers, hearing their stories and feeling their passion for the product. I’m am super keen to support local artisans.
So it’s with a heavy heart that I advise anyone living with currency and a social conscious to be cautious of a visit to Glen Ireh.
To be explicit, stay away if you don’t want to listen to the rantings of a dinosaur about how men are innately more intelligent than women, or how the ‘me too’ movement is rubbish (and how can a bloke remember who he slept with 35 years ago to defend himself anyway!!).
To spare themselves the misogynistic diatribe from the old ‘prof’ about how deeply important he is... keep driving.
I can’t even remember what the booze was like.
*sad face*

Our apologies, we were closed for a Wedding, there were posted signs at the front gate, driveway and at the Cellardoor. And our social media advised of the private function. From time to time we are booked out for private functions, as are a lot of businesses.
I’m not sure what else we could have done.
I hope you enjoyed the Whisky from Hangar 17, they make great products.
I do think 1 star is unfair considering the situation. These ratings when extreme like this do hurt our business.

What an amazing place! Have visited this place many times over the years. The Adams have done a fantastic with the facilities there, the cellar door has a great selection of their products on show. We conducted a birthday party at the venue and had plenty of space to enjoy the festivities.
Cannot wait to go back and see the great team at Adams!
