Cabot Head Light-station is maintained by the Friends Of Cabot Head, a not-for-profit organization committed to keeping the heritage lighthouse and grounds open to public access as a tourism attraction, showcasing a museum in the historic lighthouse, picnic areas and walking trails. Situated at the end of a scenic drive some 10KM beyond the village of Dyers Bay, the area is a birder's paradise, and a great area for a picnic in the gardens or at the beach in Wingfield Basin, a ten minute stroll from the lighthouse. The museum itself showcases the history of lighthouses, the former light-keepers, the local industries (fishing and lumber) and the shipwrecks of Lake Huron and Georgian Bay. In addition there is a Nature Room interpreting the unique biosphere - the flora, fauna and geology of this part of the Niagara Escarpment.

Looks like the place closes the weekend after Thanksgiving. I think today was the last day that it was open. The road to the light house is not that great but it's worth the drive to get there. Very nice property and you can even walk into the lighthouse and go to the top and also see the many things... More

Getting to Cabot Head Lighthouse is a long and bumpy drive. Budget almost 1 full hour for the 18km journey. You will go down an old logging road that is not maintained. Very narrow where large pick-up trucks and SUV's cannot pass each other easily. There was a surprising amount of people on the lighthouse property. We were greeted by... More

Oh my, the road to Cabot Head Lighthouse is a trip in itself. The last 5 miles take up to 45 minutes to drive. Mostly one-lane. Always pot-holed. Bump Bump Bump. But the lighthouse is a glory. We were greeted by enthusiastic volunteer "keepers." The house itself is a wonderful museum, mostly facilitated by volunteers and contains a wealth of... More

Drove to the lighthouse and went for a good hike. Went down to the beach and followed the shoreline around. Very rocky so wear proper hiking shoes. Lighthouse itself is interesting, you can climb up to the top for a nice view, not very hard. There is no set fee for the lighthouse or trails, but they suggest a $20... More

Worth the drive. Well preserved lighthouse with museum & self-guided hike providing history of the area, Wingfiled Basin, and the lighthouse. Operated & maintained by volunteers. Did fell the recommended $20 donation a bit steep. Thought $10/person more reasonable.

Great little place to drive to with stunning views of Georgian bay. Road is narrow in some places reminds me of UK. We parked and visited the lighthouse going all the way up to the top. Also, hiked in the forest trails along the shores of Dyers bay. Great experience and wonderful time. The Bruce peninsula is a great place... More

We enjoyed a boat tour in the morning then went off for a fun half day adventure to see the Cabot Head Lighthouse. It's a few km out of town, then a few more km to the water, then a dirt road that keeps going and going.... but it's worth the drive (careful if you stop by the water on... More

We thoroughly enjoyed the lighthouse, views and light hiking out the point. Highly recommend. Would gladly go again. Make sure lighthouse is open for self guided tours for when you get there, as the drive is quite a ways. Water access and great views.

The lighthouse is a museum and can be visited. The view from the top is quite nice. You can also take a 15minutes walk to the water. Please be aware of the poison ivy. We really enjoyed our visit there!
