Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What an amazing collection of buildings on different levels! The lower temple is made up of several different, very beautiful, parts of the temple including one part being constructed like a huge boat. Even on a dull day, the vibrant colors stood out against the overcast sky. There’s plenty of car parking and everything is more or less on one level. Don’t think you’ve seen it all! Take the road going up hill ( very steep in places) and you will eventually reach another car park where there is also a cafe. This part is even more breathtaking and has to be seen to be believed!
Take your time and make sure camera/phone batteries are fully charged.
Beautiful buildings with a calm atmosphere and shouldn’t be missed.
Highly recommended.

If you're staying in Krabi and interested in seeing any of the temples, you absolutely need to go see Wat Ban Riang. We stayed in Ao Nang and couldn't find any tours that went there so we rented a van/driver for the day to head north to see the temple. It was absolutely stunning, I've never seen anything like it. The country side surrounding the temple is beautiful; undulating green hills as far as the eye can see. The temple itself is incredibly ornate and intricate. The massive statues of the Chinese Goddess of Compassion and Buddha are incredible. Of all the excursions we did in Krabi, this was by far our favourite. It is a great way to spend a day; you have to see it!

Stunning Buddhist complex with a number of temples and areas to admire. Unfortunately our guide only took us to the lower temples and we missed out on the ones on the hillside. However, it was still beautiful, fine Thai architecture. Despite the fact that it is not on the usual tourist beaten path, it’s well worth a visit if you have time to spare or if your traveling from krabi to Phuket or vice versa.

The view and the location of the temple are absolutely amazing. I loved it even more than the Wat Tham Sua. We rent a taxi for the whole day and the driver took us to Wat Tham Sua, What Bang Riang and Tha Pom Nature Trail and it was an utterly beautiful day. Actually, all the days spent in that area of Thailand were beautiful, the only point of interest for tourists which I would avoid being the Hot Spring Waterfall.

Absolutely worth visiting this temple. It is well kept and has beautiful views from the top of the hill. You have to wear long shorts and shirts otherwise you'll have to borrow one at the temple for 20 Baht.

A 90 minute drive from Khoa Lak and it’s worth it. Although the temple is not the best it’s location and views make up for it. It was built in the late 1980s so reasonably modern in terms of historical sites.
If you are fit enough and can handle steps it’s worth the effort to get closer and see the golden giant Buddha.

came here for a day trip from Khao Lak.
First temple is the Thai temple located on the hill top, have to walk up the stairs to go to the top, there is a Chedi and surround by other buddhas on the base of the complex.
From there, one can see the surrounding area, there is a giant size Buddha and also Guan Yin (Goddess of Mercy).
Very interesting place to spend a few hours wondering around to take photos and enjoy the scenery.

This temple is about an hour and a half's drive from Ao Nang. We rented a car and driver for the day to visit Bang Rieng and Than Bok Khoranee park for a cost of 2,500 baht (about $80). The setting on a mountain side is stunning, as is the temple and its surrounding gardens. Don't forget to visit the gigantic Goddess of Compassion and seated Buddha statues, easily accessible by foot down and up the hillside from the main temple. This place is beautiful! Make sure you make a stop at the Ship Temple before you go to the main temple. Its amazing! The temples are beautiful, every detail so intricate, the main temple itself is very beautiful and the monks strictly enforce a dress code, so make sure you dress appropriately, although you can purchase clothing to wear before you enter the temple. Please be respectful.
The views are spectacular as are the carvings and details. Make sure you spend time to just relax and take in the serenity.
I loved the Goddess of Compassion statue, she is so beautiful and the views out to look at her is breathtaking.
Will be going back in 16days :)

Wat Bang Riang is a temple which is built on the very top of the hill. To reach the temple you must walk up a steep road which has an enormous snake either side of it - beautifully sculpted.
When you reach the top you must enter into the Wat (cost is less then 50 Baht). Inside the temple you are surrounded by a plethora of things to see - where to start - walk round clockwise and then enter into the inner parts.
You can enter and make a Buddhist Prayer and then shake the Moon Blocks and the Fortune Sticks.
You can then enter the inner sanctum and sit in front of a gigantic display of paintings and more.
There is more to see - wonderful.
After the Wat you can circle around it and then you see an enormous Golden Buddha in the distance - I believe you could go closer? Then there was an enormous Pud Jor in the distance - i was impressed

Is it suitable for someone with reduced mobility?

I think you will need to hire a car and driver as I suspect very few organised tours from Krabi would go to this area.

Is this place unsuitable for a pregnant woman? I see a lot of climbing and walking up steep inclines. Would this place be too tiring for a pregnant woman to visit? Thanks.
