Upon arrival in Minca, we heard that one has to be very lucky to be able to see the highest coastal mountain in the world, Pico Cristobal Colon. Mostly, it's very cloudy, especially in the rain season. However, we asked around town and the shopkeeper claimed that if we left early enough in his Land Rover, we'd be able to... More

Initially, the tour was great. The young lady who showed us around was very kind and knowledgable as it was our first ever visit to a coffee farm. We also had some nice cold beer and a piece of banana bread and even purchased a few bags of coffee to bring home. We really appreciated the tour and she even... More

Its a quick taxi drive up a nice mountain road to get there and then you can get a hotel in town or in various nearby coffee finca hostels which are quieter. Mince has a lot of backpackers and young people so that is an attraction if thats what you like. Lots of good eating but a little noisy. I... More

Minca is nice quiet place in the mountains. We stayed in Oscar´s palce where is the best sunset view from Minca on the mountains around (you have to walk there 15 min. throught small path). You can just chill out here in hammocks, go for swim in small river Polo Azules (1hour walking or take mototaxi for 6 000 cop),... More

This is just another warning about Wyman Culbreth. He is a pleasant enough guy and I am sure he is not malicious or malevolent, but he is a terrible, terrible travel organiser and communicator. We did a trek and climb with him in the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta in December 2015, and the organisation of camps, food, transport, etcetera... More

Made the trek up the mountain with a mototaxi ($70 000 one way). Stayed overnight at one of the TV tower manager's homes (knock on the door of Mundo or Leonardo) for $50 000. The view is beautiful.

The road to get to the top of the ridge to see the sunrise above the snow-capped peaks of Santa Marta is terrible, but the view is stunning. If you love birds, it is all worth it. If you don't, maybe another place is a better choice. Tip: go up with jeeps and walk down (it is less then 10km... More

No other local beer like it. Nothing like a hand crafted beer and from the city you're visiting... what a refreshing taste after all the Aguila and Club Colombia's I've had. I love that the beer is made from fresh Minca water packed with minerals. Salud!
