Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Beach was surprisingly crowded, mate said that it wasn't usual for the beach to be crowded. Was a good time and had a nice walk to the look out point. Didn't venture to Maitland beach which was a few km. Near umina beach.

An amazing beach with calm blue waters. Great for snorkelling, fishing, bush walking and for a fun day in the sun

Lovely beach with lots of space and beautiful clear waters for swimming. The coastal path goes up over the cliffs and has amazing views - recommended adventure part of your visit.

Parking is down a little laneway off the right on Putty Beach Road, just before the National Park, then it’s a short walk down to the beach. The middle of the beach is all off leash, and our pup met several other friendly dogs. There are great views out across Pittwater to Palm Beach. The surf was quite big on our visit, and there was. Strong backwash, so you’d have to be careful if your dogs is a keen swimmer.

We are very fortunate to live in the area of Bouddi national park which includes Putty beach. The water is generally pristine with occasional wafts of seaweed. It is not patrolled but because of its position in the corner it is quite safe. As it is a national park dogs are not allowed on Putty beach but they are allowed further up the beach at Killcare. The walk along the coastline is magnificent with beautiful views. You need a national parks pass to park near Putty. Or you can buy a pass at the entrance to the park. But there is free parking further up near Killcare beach. Definitely worth a visit.

The view down to Palm Beach and Manly is spectacular from Putty Beach. The waves are gentle and well suited to young children. It is located in Boudhi National Park and there is a delightful walk over the headland. Small rock pools to entertain. Never overcrowded. Lovely walk around to Killcare beach where you can dine at the restaurant or a fish wrap from the shop downstairs to enjoy with a byo.
Highly recommend this beach. It’s my local.

The beach is about 1.5km long & has a rock pool at the end closest to the Surf Lifesaving Club. It is ideal for young children, being sheltered and shallow with low rocks that our 5 year old happily jumped off into the pool. There is also a cafe with sand toys by the Surf Club.

At the other end are lots of tiny rock pools full of marine creatures that are also fun for children. That end of the beach is sheltered by a Headland which makes the sea very calm and perfect to swim in. We spent 10 days there and loved it. There is also a lovely coastal walk reached by a staircase at the North end of the beach.

The walk to Putty Beach while a bit of a climb over & down is easy hiking, very beautiful bushland but not for those with limited mobility. The reward is a mostly isolated, unspoilt beach to enjoy all to yourself. If you want to swim be aware it is an unpatrolled beach which naturally comes with its own risks. Also go prepared with insect repellent in warmer weather, especially after rain & around sunset & sunrise times. Despite these issues I was well pleased with my visit.
