Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I hope it was the owner and not a staff member who came out of the distillery to attend to us. Was rather brusque in manner and gave no information or advice or sell on any of his wares. So we bought a bottle of gin and went on our way. There for all of 5 minutes. He obviously had far more important things to do than make sales. We probably would have bought more than just one bottle, but we seemed to be an imposition his time. If it was the owner I am not sure what his issue was. For all he knew, we could have been journalists/travel writers etc. willing to promote his business. A positive going forward may well be that the gardens are undergoing a major reno by the look of it, and I think they will be smashing in a few years time. Perhaps COVID has made it hard for him - don’t know and would not bother returning. BTW, the gin is good.

Gotta laugh at the reviewer who gave Distillery Botanica 3-stars because he wasn't "greeted upon arrival" - lolwut?! This place is indeed small (as most distilleries in Australia are) but on a lovely leafy-green estate (which is where they grow most of the botanicals that make it into their potions), but you're here for the gin and other liqueurs, right, not to have a lapdog greet you as you step out of your car? Mr Moore has been distilling for nearly a couple of decades, and been 'dragged kicking & screaming' into turning it from a hobby and into an exporting business, for good reason - their gins are like the bottled essence of Australia (so says an American friend who sampled one of our bottles a few years back), and their Mr Black coffee liqueur is just yummo, and not too sweet (so it's a much more versatile coffee liqueur). Great for an hour or two's visit for lunch.

I went there on a sunny Saturday afternoon on a long weekend with my parents. The three of us walked in and found the staff member serving a group of about 8. He didn't acknowledge us at all. He avoided all eye contact with us and didn't even greet us with an 'hello'. We wandered around and looked at the still and read the small amount of information that was posted about the place. We stood around for 10 minutes waiting for some acknowledgement but none came. I can understand the man was busy but it wouldn't have been difficult to say 'hello, I'll be with you in about 15 minutes - in the meantime, why don't you look at the garden'. Very disappointing to be completely ignored. We're locals and would love to support a local micro-distillery but certainly won't be returning or recommending this place to others. There are other gins to explore in Sydney and further up the coast.

We visited the distillery on a Sunday afternoon
Waited for the current customers to purchase their bottles and then stood at the counter for over 15 minutes while the proprietor talked to a customer seeking information as his partner was going for a job with a similar producer
We were not acknowledged and it was if we had on invisible paint. Another lady who came in after us wasn’t as patient and walked out after 5 minutes
We never got served and walked out when they started discussing his home brew techniques.
I can find other gins and enjoy the experience

Distillery Botanica is a pleasant little distillery on the Central Coast. The Moores Gin is especially nice, the raspberry and lemon myrtle liqueurs an absolute must!

The fragrant garden is still here, full of all manner of scented plants - on a hot, "summer's" day, there was a subtle scent of lavender filling the air. The chocolate shop and cafe is new, but well worth a visit - the handmade Belgian chocolates come in some different, but delicious, flavours. Definitely have a tasting with the chocolatier - you won't be disappointed!! Finish with a gin, vodka and liqueur tasting. Philip Moore is always happy to tell you about his products and their manufacture. Even non-drinkers will probably enjoy sampling the aromas of the various spirits. Always an enjoyable visit and we never leave empty handed!!

Tucked aweay in a bushland setting, the distillery can be easily overrlooked. This would be a mistake as, having found it, and entered the grounds, some very nice experiences are to be had. The distillery produces several liqueurs, as well as spirits (their gin is especially smooth). We tasted most of the products and especially liked the Lemon Myrtle Liqueur and the Raspberry Liqueur. The distillery has already won international awards, so you know that quality is guaranteed. definately worth a visit. By the way, some of the products pack a hefty punch!

Visiting from Sydney. Saw lots of signage and advertisement for this place so though we’d give it a look. Wasn’t really what we were expecting. Gardens were nice but quite small and staff didn’t really greet us upon arrival.

Great relaxing atmosphere in the garden. Sampling of gin, vodka, black current and raspberry liqueur with a very knowledgeable distiller who looked like he loved what he did. It was nice to have Gelato that was a bit different named Mr Black which linked to what we tasted in the distillery. Peppermint tea with myrtle and lavender was awesome. They will need to sort out the amount of parking or the neighbours may start to get upset and lucky we were with locals otherwise may need a map

Attached to the distillery is a little coffee house called the Lavender Garden (I think). Such a beautiful outdoor setting to enjoy a tea or a coffee.
